Senority in a merger with UA

I have a friend with UA. They said a merger between CO and UA is all but a done deal. They also said since they are bigger they would be stapling the CO FAs to the bottom. Just wondering what the CO people think about this.

I heard from a friend that UA would also be hiring thugs to beat them up in the parking lot if any of the FA's complain, and that all CO FA's would have to work without pay for a two year period.

I heard that the UA flight attendants will eat the children of the CO FAs.

They won't merge with CO until after their 2nd trip through BK. The 1st round is just the primer, the next one will be the real BOHICA

I heard UA is " not done with US Airways yet". The new merged US/AWA makes a nice package deal for UA since they were both targets for UA takeover......

"Serious",

I'm not sure what Union CO is in.
A few things could happen.
If both F/A's groups are in the same union, they'd most likely be "dovetailed"

If they were in different Unions, and UA was the survivor, then CO f/a's work be stapled like AA/TW.

If Both were different, and CO was the survivor, I'd Imagine that because there would be noticeably MORE UA people, that they would request an election to determine WHO would represent them. Bottom line UA would win/keep there Union.

Best scenario, if they do "consolidate", is to hope BOTH groups are in the same Union

The FA's at CAL are represented by the IAM. One of their selling points of our "new" contract is that our merger protection is the best in the industry. I myself am no big fan of the IAM and after seeing what a great job they did to protect the TWA FA's, I'm even less sure, but then again TWA was in BK.This issue was discussed at the United forum and there was a lot of hard feelings against CAL back in the 80's. Needless to say,a staple job on either side would create one big crappy airline. Just to play the what if game, what if CO management was to take over the operation, move it to IAH, but call it United, kinda like AmWest did with UsAir?

Still can't move on, eh?
No they can't. It still frustrates them that they were unable to go from the financially sickest, lowest paying legacy to the top of the seniority lists of the largest and healthiest legacy on the backs of nAAtives.

Both the AFA (United) and IAM (Continental) are AFL-CIO affiliates. It is my understanding that the AFL-CIO standard is date of hire regardless of the circumstances surrounding the combination of the companies.

100% certain that if UAL were to merge with Co, regardless of whether or not UAL was the buyer, there is NO WAY the CO f/a's would be stapled. Not even a small chance.

AFA is all about date of hire.

Just saw that if they merged the two airlines that they would keep part of each airlines name..............The new one would be called Continental "Airlines"
