Republican attempt to effect an election

Given that we just came out of a summer with fuel hitting $3.50 or more, consumer savings is negative, wages are stagnate, cost are increasing, foreclosures are at an all time high 45% over last year) I would say that is something everyone should be very concerned about.
Boy, your a real glass is half-empty kind of person. What about Dow hitting record highs, unemployment is extremely low ( the % should be higher 'cuz I'm not working),tax revenues are up (due to the lowering of tax rates), gas prices coming down, rate of inflation is low.

I don’t feel like looking for it but the employment rates have not really changed, the math used to calculate them did change a few years back. Needless to say, the new math magically has less people unemployed. The fed is looking at a possible recession. The Federal deficit ceiling has been raised to over 9 trillion dollars. How do you plan on paying that off? Your kids going to foot the bill? Trade deficit is up. How much do you want to bet that gas hits $4 a gallon next year? Dow? Who the hell cares. I make enough to pay all my bills and have a little left over for emergency. Investment money is the thing of dreams right now as it is with most of the working class. Foreclosures are up over 45% because 1. people are stupid. Just because the bank will loan you $200k to buy a house does not mean you should buy a $200k house and 2. People are having a harder time making ends meet due to stagnate wages and increased expenditures on necessities. Not sure about you but I never saw a $300 electric bill till this year.

Half full. Please. There are only a few drops in my glass.

BTW, remember when you were bitching about fuel hitting $2 a gallon? Now all of a sudden $2 is a good deal? Next year $3 will be a good deal because next summer we will probably be paying $4

Don't you mean the budget ceiling? We are running a deficit but it is not as bad as was expected because of higher tax revenues. I know, it's still a deficit but we've had deficits before.

Nope, I meant the federal Debt.

In 6 years, W and his republican congress (fiscal conservatives I believe is the term lol) have increased our federal deficit by over 3 trillion dollars. The budget deficit adds to the federal debt because we are borrowing more than we can pay.

No Hillary is not calling the shots. A man who has all of 4 years of experience as a governor, and I believe 2 failed business ventures under his belt. That is just sooooo much better.

So are you saying it is the Republican Congress fault the federal deficit is up over 3 trillion dollars over the past 6 years?

Have you ever noticed that what is good for the Dow usually isn't so good for the worker? "Shareholder value" dictates that costs must be cut...and several industries are just like the airline industry in that those cuts come in labor costs. HEck...I remember reading that Wall Street actually downgraded Costco because the CEO said he wouldn't consider cutting employee pay and benefits.

Unemployment only tracks new folks claiming unemployment...it doesn't track those who had unemployment run out, or those who are not actively seeking employment while on unemployment. In my town, which has seen a pretty fair hit n jobs in the telecom sector, the good old politics of guns, God, and gays will rule the day.

Read the book "What's the matter with Kansas" for a good illustration of folks voting against their better interests.

What I am saying is that congress in genral is at fault (we elected the idiots so I guess that means we are at fault) and the republicans are steering the boat. So yes, a majority of the bame rests with them in my opinion.

I agree with your entire post. I suspect that most middle class Americans would agree. B)

You hit the nail on the head. Don't blame this current administration for...
because 1. people are stupid. Just because the bank will loan you $200k to buy a house does not mean you should buy a $200k house

Pitbull, Would you also agree per your statement??? I agree with your entire post. I suspect that most middle class Americans would agree. Well, this is one middle class American that does not. I guess your point is 'Most middle class Americans are stupid' since you agree with his entire post, we are all stupid. Well, at least we somehow, in our stupidity, keep airplanes flying and people safe.

Mr. Jet Guy,

My agreement is with the entire post, specifically Garfield's first paragraph.

Typical...taking a portion of the comment and throwing it out of context.

Your colors are showing...what was meant by "Americans are stupid", has to do with domestic and world affairs and the political process.

Glad you declared that what your not stupid with is flying airplanes. That would pose a more immediate problem!

Well, at least we somehow, in our stupidity, keep airplanes flying and people safe.
And the great stock market and "shareholder value" have also allowed you to see pay and benefit cuts and job losses. YOu guys do a great job, but it's sad to see that some feel that the republican agenda somehow helps you out.

So what you are saying, just so I'm clear on this and I understand it the way you mean it, only the republicans are the ones that have bloated the federal budget to these historic highs?

Is that what you're saying??
