Reconfigured 321's

Actually they could remove the seat back trays and just replace them with a cup holder.....still dramatic weight savings and it speeds the decline to truly gheto.
They also should take out all the Power Ports, no trays, no laptops. That's right, Sandcastle doesn't want the business traveler, they want the Clampett's.

When we reconfigured the 320's, US East limited inventory in F to 12, so as NOT to OS F class. Some genious in AZ neglected to do the same for the 321. Yesterday TPA had a 321 booked to 26 in F only to have "downsized" it to a newly configured 16/167 acft. Wouldn't it be prudent to do the same with the 321's?? Or should we just expect to get hammered at the gate and PO 10 preferred passengers on a regular basis.

Dumbfounded, but I'm still... B)

I believe as of tomorrow (4/15), the seat maps show 16 F. I have 4 flights next week on A321's and they all show 16F but with coach starting at 9 (I assume to allow for either configuration). For a "brillant" reason, they put a reconfigured into service a week before they adjusted the seat maps.

Was this ONE aircraft put into service as a sort of test to see how it would perform? Also, I still don't understand the seating config. It seems that only adding a net of four seats if I'm correct would allow for some pretty generous pitch. It just doesn't seem Tempe style. The total f/c and coach numbers seem odd.

Those extra 4 seats will draw extra revenue, all those $99 fares. Tempe rather have that $99 fare than the business traveler. Even if its a FF upgrading free to FC, that FF spent alot more than getting those $99 seat people. Tempe must have an address as,
US Airways
Sandcastle Meadows Trailer Park
Lot 99
Tempe, AZ xxxxx

Sandcastle is making Southwest look like the Lexus of the airline business while they are running a Yugo Business!

The reconfigured cabin has 16F 167Y for a tll of 183 seats.
Net gain of 14 not 4.

The pundits predict that the added lard will impact the performance of the aircraft for long haul flights. Hence, weight restricted or fuel stops. That being said, where is the benefit?

Still...

Whatever the reasoning, this move is unacceptable to FFOCUS and to our membership, and I am sure most FF's. The wheels were in motion too far along to stop it, but I think the volume on transcons will plummet, and soon.

I, for one, given the choice of coach on US or another carrier, would likely choose the other carrier...

I have heard more and more in the last 24-48 hours that people are just done......

I don't understand how they remove 16 f/c seats and the valet closet and only get in 14 coach seats. It seems like there would be more room than that for coach in the same space. I also don't understand how they could add the weight of more passengers and the bags they carry yet not severely impact the already lagging 321. I just don't get it unless it gets pulled off transcon. It barely makes it now.

Art,

I may have said it before, thye lost my transcon business to CO last year. ANd that was before reducing the 321, or removing coat closets, so the chances are very slim that they will ever get it back.
