Reconfigured 321's

Totally agree the 757 should be on transcon as well. If they are good enough to fly the range of cities like SNN, DUB and GLA they certainly are well suitied to fly SFO,SAN,LAX and SEA. Why waste an adequate aircraft like the 757 on a PVD or BDL turn and send the 321 which is NOT suited to the job it's being stretched to do now so more than ever. Wait until that 321 hits the winter winds. Even the 757 has had to make stops on occasion. Hey, what do we know?

OK...understand that the company needs 4 more seats on that A/C to supposedly make more money....that saying logistically for crewmembers (F/A's) does the "C" F/A get relocated to the FWD J/S now that the Closet/Bulkhead by the 2R door is removed? And with the new "AWA DOOR VERIFICATION PROCESS" upon departure and arrival WHO? or HOW? does the 2L/2R door get DISARMED/VERIFIED upon gate arrival? Am I missing something here about the new configuration? Or has the company not come across this one yet?

I don't know what they did to the 2R jumpseat that the "C" F/A is assigned too. I think it was bolted to the closet that was removed. They had to leave it there somehow. But, it's a flight attendant at every set of doors and all the exits on the 321 are door exits.

There was no mention of F/A positions in Sherri's letter to the F/A's....seeing a free standing J/S in the middle of all the coach seats will be interesting!

The ETOPS 757 has the floating style jumpseat over by 2R and the old Eastern 757's had the same popup style jumpseat at 2L before they relocated a LAV at 2L. For some reason they put the safteycard/mag holder on the jumpseat. I was sitting with a girl a few months ago on the ETOPS plane and a pax tried to reach right around her private area to get the Skymall  Another great location of "equipment".

Maybe they'll just make the "C" sit at the 2L or 2R in a passenger seat. Hey, don't put it past them.

I'm just thinking that the "C" F/A equation hasn't been figured into this reconfiguration process at all....wouldn't be suprising to have this issue come up after the first reconfigured A-321 comes on line! After all, it's all about seats and money nothing else! ;)

YES!!!! That is what they are designed to do, go transcon filled to the gills with pax and cargo! Put 18 F/C seats in all of them and save the dog of a 321 for hops between hubs......

No kidding!!! LCC has a large fleet of 757's, 40+ i believe, versus 30 or so A321's. Why would a company knowingly set themselves up for failure by putting an aircraft that they know is incapable of running some transcons during certain times of the year, when they have an aircraft on property more than capable of efficiently running said routes? Like has been said before, the A321 is a more than capable plane when used accordingly, such as hub-to-hub routes. Leave the heavy/long transcon flights to the aircraft best suited for the job, which is clearly the 757.

If West uses their 757's for transcons, what would they do about Hawaii? Don't they salvage parts off of the other 757's to get 1 running?

Maybe DoUgIe can rent a U-Haul and drive it out to Goodyear, there are a bunch of planes there. I didn't see any parts come out of here!!!

 I heard the Company is going to have the "C" F/A suspended in midair like a hot air balloon controlled by cables at the MACY*S Thanksgiving Parade. Space was an issue and the neccesity to remove a closet prevented placing the jumpseat IN there. There is a saying "TIME Is Money" well, to the bean counters a new equation arises.... Space + Seats x Maximum Paxloads = BIG PROFITS. (comfort is NOT IN THIS EQUATION)

Here is a new tidbit which shows how well they researched this move.

The first reconfigured 321 did a CLT-SAN or LAX yesterday and had serious weight and balance issues. It seems when loaded the CG is so far forward they had to weight restrict it.

Another brilliant job.

One would hope they reconsider, but who am I kidding?

SORRY TO DISSAPOINT YOU BUT THATS NOT TRUE....THERE WAS NO RESTRICTIONS ON THAT FLIGHT

Wait for a FULL load of passengers and cargo when the winds really kick up. If as a passenger you make a stop along the way be sure to report it to the DOT. Don't bother sending a letter complaining to US Airways. It is going to happen pretty regularly in the winter I bet.

since you guys don't really have meal service and since seat pitch is so tight that you cannot really lower the seat tray when the person in front reclines. Why doesn't Tempe just remove the seat trays in coach. Think of the weight savings.....

But where would I put my big tall plastic cup of bad white wine and my package of 3 little pretzels?
