Real Hope & Change - Ron Paul 2012

It's my opinion hammer head. Straw polls don't mean crap. When Paul wins a few primaries then we can talk . I doubt that will happen. When Paul starts talking on a wider scale and people start looking at his beliefs more closely I do not think the center will find it very palatable.

Paul is an old man who has some wacky ideas. He is a 3 time looser. I would not hold my breath.

We shall see! His poll numbers rise with each piece of bad economic news and thanks to the Back Bench Junior Senator from IL posing as POTUS we have plenty of that.

Any vote by we the people means something and it's interesting to note that 44.9% of the Republican insiders in a relatively liberal state selected Ron Paul. The Constitution Day Money Bomb was another fundraising success so people are giving him money and again it's interesting to note it's mostly all small donations, NOT from the Jeffrey Immelt's and George Soros' of the world or the Koch Brothers for that matter. It's from we the people. Wait until Bachmann quits then things should get real interesting.

Face it, Liberty is popular

Bachman already quit. She just is not astute enough to realize it.

She's more astute asleep then most are awake. Ignore/dismiss her at your peril. She just has a near terminal case of Foot in Mouth! Which is infinitely better than the current fraud in the White House

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. She reminds me of Dell. Willing to resell anything that fits her agenda with and concern for its accuracy.

y'all do realize that the CA Straw Poll is a pay to vote event, right?

Pay for a couple bus loads of supporters, and you win the event.

Reportedly, there was a single check written for $26,000 to cover admissions, presumably for 260 Paul supporters since they were such a large voting block, and he was the only candidate getting such a high concentration of votes.

Of course, the party doesn't care -- they need the money and their money spends just the same as money from a Bachman or Perry supporter.

Look at a poll from any of the more unbiased sources, and Paul continues to hover in single digits. Factor out the 260 exta votes above, and gee, the statistics start to resemble the national polls...

Also try to remember that in the last Presidential race, Paul supporters planned to show up en masse. Rather than have the event marginalized by ballot box stuffing, the organizers chose to cancel.

Paul has interesting ideals, but I still say is as unelectable as Kinky Friedman was...

The fact he holds up in the head to head polls says little more than People want "anyone but Obama" than indicating any real support for what Paul stands for.

He was #3 ahead of Bachmann with 14 percent in a national poll. Ponder what happens when she drops out.

There were something like 1290 votes cast, so if Paul had 44.9% he then had 578 voters. So subtract out the 260 which we assume were Paul voters and he still has 319 or 24.7% of the vote which is consistent with what he pulled in I and IIRC enough to win CA

No, there were 883 votes cast. From CNN:

LOS ANGELES – Minutes ago in front of the California Republican Party convention delegation at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live, CRP Chairman Tom Del Beccaro announced Congressman Ron Paul as the winner of the 2011 California Straw Poll.

A full breakdown of the results is copied below. A total of 833 ballots were cast during the 2011 Straw Poll which included a write-in opportunity for the first time.

The 2011 California Straw Poll was held on Saturday, September 17th between 9:00AM – 5:00PM, where CRP members, associate members, and registered guests were allowed to choose their favorite from among the 11 official Republican presidential candidates.

2011 Straw Poll Full Results (Votes, %)

Congressman Ron Paul (374, 44.9%)

Governor Rick Perry (244, 29.3%)

Mitt Romney (74, 8.8%)

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (64, 7.7%)

Jon Huntsman (17, 2.0%)

Herman Cain (15, 1.8%)

Newt Gingrich (14, 1.7%)

Thad McCotter (7, 0.8%)

Rick Santorum (7, 0.8%)

Gary Johnson (2, 0.2%)

Fred Karger (1, 0.1%)

I'm not sure if I am keen on the idea of Paul being the republican candidate. I mean on the one hand it guarantees Obama a second term. On the other hand, it guarantees Obama a second term. I really don't think the Dems have anything to worry about from Paul. I doubt there is a chance in hell he will get the nomination.

You just can't grasp all the people who are barely getting along under O's policies and how they're going to vote, can you.

Ron Paul is for real

The Revolution will be televised!

In new poll, Ron Paul rates with front-runners Romney and Perry

By Chris Moody
Political Reporter

In yet another sign that perhaps the news media ought to think about treating his presidential campaign more seriously, Ron Paul was viewed about as favorably as Rick Perry and Mitt Romney by Americans in a new poll.

In an Associated Press-GfK telephone survey of the general population, 37 percent of the respondents said they have a positive view of the libertarian-leaning representative from Texas, while 36 percent said they did not.

Perry, the Texas governor, and Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, invoked similar favorable/unfavorable ratings that also fell within the poll's 4.1 percent margin of error. Romney was viewed favorably by 39 percent of Americans, and Perry was viewed favorably by 33 percent.

Another 41 percent said they viewed Romney unfavorably, and 36 percent viewed Perry unfavorably.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich had the widest gap among the poll's respondents, with 57 percent viewing him unfavorably and 27 percent viewing him favorably.

A Gallup survey earlier this week showed that Paul polls within the same margin of error as Perry and Romney in a general election match-up with President Barack Obama.

Favorable vs. unfavorable is pretty meaningless to me... Who someone would be more likely to vote for between the front-runners looking to challenge Obama next November is what really matters.

I find both thin crust pizza and deep pan pizza favorable, and onions & anchovies as unfavorable under any circumstances.

Since I'm not going to order two pizzas, that means I still have to choose one over the other, even though both are favorable.

In other polls he's come within 2 points of Obama in a head to head match up.

I'd love to see Ron clean the Empty Suit's clock (I think he would too) in a debate.

I heard Joe The Plumber was polling ahead of Obama a couple weeks ago.

We can go round and round for the next six months. It won't matter until the primaries.

I'd love to see Obama face Nader or someone else in a debate. I'm not sure my 401K could handle it, though. Seems to drop every time he shows up on TV....

What struck me was the age of the people in this video. Hope for this election and hope for years to come. Watch it!
