Question re AA 747

What some other poster said about the TWA 747 might explain the flight, but it apparently is the wrong type of 747. Of course, the other explanation for that 1/10/07 AA 747 flight showing up is a glitch in the system which simply coughed up a flight which never took place.

Wouldn't be the first time FlightAware has invented a mythical flight.

Couldn't have been a TWA 747 (they were long gone before AA bought TWA's assets and AA took no 747s in the deal), you can be certain that it was some sort of glitch.

As for TWA, I believe that they had only 747-100's, and a few "SP's".(I welcome any correction(s) if I'm mistaken)
JFK-TLV and LAX-LHR were flown with 747-200s. Over the years, TWA flew a total of seven 200s, although not all at the same time. They were registered as N301TW through N307TW. Fleet numbers were 17301-17307.

I've seen some weird flights on Flightaware. SSO is Sao Lourenco, Brazil and its more than a 25 min flt to Scottsdale from there. I would say computer issue with either a pseudo flight for test reasons or someone was playing around?

Thank you..Royal Ambassador, for the TWA 747 100/200 correction !!!

eoleson.

I was told that 1 of those "SP's" came from somewhere in the desert in the middle east.

<_< ------ I heard a cute story about Crandel and the SP's. --------- It seems our (TWA) CEO, I believe it was Tillinghast at the time? Was so proud of that Aircraft when we first got them, he invited Crandel to take a ride! Afterwords, he asked Crandel what he thought of the Aircraft, his reply was: "Great Plane! I wonder if they make a stretch version"?

Trust me...MCI.

There were.."NO Fly's on (uncle) Bobby"

(and IF there were)

"They were paying RENT" !!!!!

Ps,

As I look down at the bottom of this page(when I was typing),..there were 3 "members on line" , ...Me, FA Mikey, and MCI.

3 OLD retired Bas***ds !!

Spent a couple years working on the SPs when they would RON at DFW.. That was when all we had was the tail dock, hangar 1 and 2... We used to go into the upper deck and relax, me and some other cone's... Back then the supervisor was Bob Vought.. He know the SP very well... But he was still a flathead/picker.... Sometimes they would go up to MCI for heavier maint since they were leased from TWA... It was a great airplane... Sad to have seen them go.... Replaced by the "Scuds".. - Shoot them into the air and never know where they were going to land....

<_< ------- But Bears! You keep forgetting, your "Uncle Bobby" got his basic training here at TWA! 🙄

There were two and both came from TW.

AeroTransport Data Bank
I remember the SP's at the end of their time with TW -- one sat on the North Ramp (across from Bay 112) forever (think years!), it appeared to have remnants of the AA livery left on it: natural aluminum, blue-white-blue stripes just like AA did on the 767's they sent out of here to Capital Cargo. The story I was told on that one was some sheik wanted it, but sent it back when he found out he couldn't load his car in the cargo bin. Hey, that's the story I remember.......

That thing had to be a royal (pun intended) mess when they finally did open it up -- they never opened it up to "air it out" like they did other A/C that were parked on the ramp for extended periods.

The other one was actually painted TW red and white when I last saw it. We had to do some minor repairs on it before they sent it off somewhere. I remember the more "traditional" staircase on it versus the spiral staircase of the rest of the 747's. If I knew where I put it, I kept one of the seat back cards out of it, since they were specifically for the SP.

Were these the only two SP's Boeing made?

But, it would not still have the AA livery on it. The 747 which transports the shuttle says NASA on the sides. The OP saw a picture of a 747 with AA livery, supposedly recently flown to Scottsdale. My guess is that the photo is misdated or someone is playing games with Photoshop-type software.

So much for reading comprehension...

A flight watch listing is now a picture?

TW had -100's and -200-s, last was parked in early 1997.

AA's were gone looong before then.

TW also had 2 SP's, eons ago. Sold one to the Shah of Iran, to make payroll one particularly bleak month, as the story goes... AA wanted two, so TW went out and bought another so they would have two to lease AA, as the other story goes... (thus FWAAA's third TW SP...)

Anyone wanna' hear about Winslow? 😉
