Senior Officer Outreach Program. You must have missed that in the STAR.

On Dec. 23, 2001, who predicted the Jan. 9, 2002 AA carve out of the US-UA merger?

Who broke the news of the potential UCT in Mar. 2002?

Who predicted UA would violate their DIP financing ...
Dude, your grip on reality is getting REALLY tenuous.

What's an "AA carve-out?"

So now you're saying the U/UA code share marketing alliance is the UCT you have been babbling breathlessly about all these years? Big deal! You had everyone expecting the UCT was about U getting hold of UA's assets (and more than "taking custody" of a couple of unused gates in SEA). Seems like you are changing your tune.

But the last one is the biggest kicker. You predicted UA would miss its DIP targets (along with a thousand other naysayers, and even I exptected it too). So I hate to break the news to you, but (surprise!) to date UA has NOT missed its DIP targets. I am not even sure why you put this on here as proof of the accuracy of your predictions. But I guess that is something only the Mind of Chip will understand.

In other words, you sure predict a lot. But you don't seem to notice that your predictions are often WRONG. And you even point to WRONG predictions as proof that you are RIGHT.

Amen Bear, some people's judgement is so clouded they can't tell reality from fiction anymore.

Many many years ago there was talk of a mega center. Looks like they're headed that way. But----I remember one time a tornado ripped through Winston and knocked out the whole center. What about ice storms--INT is not equipped to handle bad weather--that's the city not just US. They should have kept Orlando or San Diego--where the weather is not as bad during the winter months. I know I had a harder time getting to work during bad icey weather in Winston than I did in Reno or Indy. US really needs to stop and think. But then miricles would truly happen.
By the way, the pass fees for those retired with less than 20 years service!!!! are totally crazy. It with neither assist employees to get on more planes nor will it give revenue to the company. Just another slap in the face to those who gave lots of years of service and had to leave when centers started closing.
Good luck to you all and I wish you all a better New Year.

The "AA carve out" to the last merger attempt was UA selling its gates in LGA & BOS to AA, AA buying the US B757s, F-110s, & MD-80s from UA post merger, and the joint shuttle plan.

If you remember, I first announced this 16 days before it became public.

In regard to the UCT, if you remember I said in March 2002 the revenue umbrella would be the US-UA domestic and the Star alliance.

Finally, who first broke the 60 aircraft news on this website last night.

Can you now say DCT...or will it be UCT...or the ICT.

Regardless, Siegel told management today at the Crystal City meeting that he strongly believes that like the steel industry, the industry will go from 6 or 7 big competitors to 3 or 4 and the question is whether we want to be one of the 3 or 4.

Hummm, I was just wondering, how can that be? Furthermore, with US and UA continuing their incremental consolidation a deal will never proceed, right....

Regards,

Chip

P.S. By the way, he who laughs last, laughs best! :D

I remember AA getting involved in the merger, taking MD80s, 757s, and the "joint Shuttle" (?) I still to this day have no idea how they intended to share it?!? I think they mean they were sharing a joint when discussing the Shuttle. :p

Please return to the topic of the thread which is about PIT REZ. If you would like to discuss the US/UA/AA transaction, please start a new thread or join one of the many ICT/UCT threads already in progress.
Thanks.

Chip comments: How much did the TSA $300 million grant adjust the calculus? Without this surpirse gift, in light of UAL's bankruptcy attorney saying the company nearly defaulted, would UAL have violated its DIP terms?

Chip

Hopefully when Dave visits PIT, someone will ask him what US' numbers would have looked like without the same refund from the TSA.

I have started another thread in an attempt to move the off-topic stuff over there, entitled "Response to Chip."

My apologies for my part in getting this thread off track.

Isn't this announcement a violation of SEC regulations and a disservice to your employer? Isn't it up to the corporate offices, and not up to a line pilot, to make such announcements?

US Airways' future unsettled in Green Tree
Lease situation rattles agents

Thursday, December 18, 2003

By Dan Fitzpatrick, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

US Airways has been operating for the last six months without a permanent lease at its Green Tree reservations center, letting it lapse at the end of April and remaining in the two Parkway Center buildings only on a month-to-month arrangement.

I think that Chip was the first person to mention this possibility.
