Pit Flights Down

it started....and will soon end....goes by the name MidAtlantic

[Out West everyone seems open minded and excited I think the only real disapointment so far is how gloomy some Easties are and how bossy they seem too.
Hopefully somebody is in charge that will tell the old US east boys...."yeah...you've done it that way for decades, through several CEO's and boards of directors....now it's time to change."

Ray, I agree with most of your comments you've posted...but AWA has said from the beginning of the merger that taking the best from BOTH companies is how you maximize synergy. This is not lip service. Already our department is taking the shape of how US East is organized. So it's not a one-way street, this is a team effort to capitalize on synergy.

US West, US East. why are you promoting division by pretending you are different?.

There is no master race in this airline. Only people pretending to belong to one.

Ultimatley I agree but as we operate on two certificates for at least another 1.5 years we have to disitinguish ourselves and East/West or Old US and AWA have been used by most. East West seems the nicest.
From a legal, operational and safety standpoint everyone has to be exactly clear who they are talking to and who they represent. We cannot have a Tech or a Pilot following a manual from the other Airline becuase someone in US Airways Ops? Called and said do this per manual ref blah blah blah? Is that a US Airways ref or an AWA ref. Are you a AWA tech or a US Airways tech?

Anyone know anything about a pulldown in PIT flights in Jan?
Also, Is it me or is it annoying to anyone else that tons of celebrations are happening out west while the east sits in limbo about their future? It's like, hey we just got on heckuva deal at the foreclosure...Let's party...

I have seen the preliminary schedule for Jan and I show no significant reduction in service. I believe they drop from 200 flights a day to 198 and 1 mainline flight is replaced by an RJ.

So, no, there is not a pulldown of flights in PIT for Jan from the schedule that I have seen.

Good point...just the other day I was speaking on the phone to a Boeing rep and had to clarify US West. Until we are under one certificate that seems to be the best way to distinguish.

Fisherman,
Do you realize you have more posts in 2 months than many of us have written in 3+ years?

Am I the only one who sees similarities between the 320pilot and the fisherman? They both seem to know everything and everyone, or think they know everything and everyone.

Please, don't respond and tell me once again 'how cool you are'. Every time you do, the mercury in the dweeb meter rises.

well said........if I didnt know better I would be led to believe 320pilot is the Moses of the Airline Industry! And the great prophet proclaims "US will be buying TED"........what in the hell is this dude smoking anyways?

I predict with the a/c returns, there will be a pull down of more flights in PIT in Feb.

What part of the US East, Us West differentiation in this string addresses operations or safety?

The only thing separating employees from either airline is the people who wish to make the point the airline they worked for pre-merger has some how made them a better person.

it is nothing but misplaced arrogance.

Actually there are differences. If you call the US counter in TPA, you might get someone working US or someone working HP, or someone who works US who knows the HP system (or someone who doesnt). Now, I have to know which system you want checked since they are different (and you need to know if you are talking to someone who knows the HP system or the US system or both). I cant check US stuff in HPs computer and vv. Same with baggage and gates. Also there are differences in the way some things are done HP vs US. When HP has a seat that is wet and has to be blocked, they dont just not assign the seat, they MEL it and it cant be used until cleared thru maint. We've had this problem a couple times. So, you'd need to know if you're talking to a US East or US West person cause ones going to say, huh? and the other is going to know what you're talking about.
Does that address the operational standpoint of needing to know who you are talking to? As far as actually asking the person "were you USEast or USWest" that doesnt matter to me. I just need to know that you know how to do what I need you to do in whichever system you know and if not, please get me someone who does.

After Thanksgiving, they'll be down to 1 ns from pit to sfo and the only return ns back will be the red-eye YUCK! Everytime I've flown that route they're packed like sardines.

mlt, pardon me for being passionate and .... I suppose...I have too much time on my hands which I won't deny. Cool? Actually, I'm okay with being who I am and cool I am not. I do object to being compared to 320pilot....not that I do or don't agree with any of his/her posts, but our posts are distinctively different in scope. I suggest if your "mercury" rises when reading my posts that you ignore them. You can excerise your right and I'll excerise mine.
