I am normally one not to gossip but I can't help it with this one. Some of the A330 captians here in CLT are saying that the company may be moving PHL/CDG to CLT/CDG in September? Has anyone else heard anything like this? I mean, its hard enough to fit FRA, LGW and LH on D Concourse in CLT, I can only imagine the parking nightmare if another widebody came into play in CLT before the new International Concourse is completed.

Maybe it could be an 8pmish departure and could use D12?
Did we have FRA and CDG and LGW in 2001...I thought we did...or maybe FRA replaced LGW..I would LOVE it if we could fly direct to Paris from home. Eiffel tower here we come!

I seem to remember we did CLT-CDG back before 9-11 or sometime around there and that was before the new part of D opened, so I'm not sure how there wouldn't be any room. If room needs to be made in CLT I'm pretty sure they will accomodate.

Yeah, it went out of D5, but I can't remember if we had CLTFRA then as well? We definitely had LGW.

Lets see, here is how it plays out in the summer with 3 widebody's arrived between 1400 and 1600. LH to D12, FRA to D11, and LGW to D3 in turn blocking out D5 for use. Also US does not have access to D6 which is Jetblue or D4 which is used us Express. So that would only leave D10 as a viable option but that would block out D8 leaving only D1 and D2 and D7 and D9 for a few Cancun and Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Mexico City. D12 would free up at around 1730 as LH is pressing like a hot iron to MUC and D3 and D5 would be free at 1630 if and I do say IF FRA is ontime. Can it be done?

Why would they give up PHL-CDG? Most likely may add CLT-CDG. And September to start it seems weird, just in time for the slow season. If AF is taking all the passengers away from US in PHL, I would look for the rest to go. Maybe they did a deal with AF for slots at LHR to give the route up. It doesn't sound right.

I think the rumor got a little twisted kind of like putting the cart in front of the horse. I had heard that in 2009 US would be adding additional T/A routes out of CLT that are already flown in PHL. In 2009, we are supposed to be adding more widebodies to the fleet with the A330-200's. It doesn't make much sense to fly CLT-CDG in the off season and drop PHL-CDG altogether.....but stranger and dumber things have happened!

Yeah, like taking off the pretzels yet keeping all those nasty, disease infested pillows and blankets. What sense does that make? Are they trying to kill off the passengers? They should have gotten rid of those a long time ago. Yuck!

I have also hear its because of the routes poor OTP out of PHL that may have something to do with it. Who knows?

Only one thing I can think of about adding CLT-CDG back. On September 3rd 734/735 to MAN gets downgraded to a 75. An additional segment will be added to pick up slack (784/785) also a 75. The reason is because they have decided to send that 330 to MUC for Oktoberfest again. I could actually see them keeping MAN that way with 2 75Es and when MUC finishes with the 330, create a new CLT-CDG. Time will tell... But I don't see them moving it.

The majority of CDG flights out of PHL are packed and unlike domestic a full airplane to Europe DOES mean profit. I don't think CDG will be going away from PHL. An addition of CDG to CLT would be nice. Imagine an airline with a bigger international presence.

Please don't say that. That means Tempe will start to fly to every Hicktown in Mexico!
