phl reserves!

You see, this is a PRIME example that reserves do not matter. Other bases have INV yet PHL does not. How this is acceptable is beyond me. Well to say that the reserve population is p!ssed is an understatement. I would LOVE to see what the response would be if they screwed something up with blocks or something. The union would be fit to be tied and throw a holy fit. John will not say anything for the simple fact that there is nothing TO say. It will go silent and they know "collectively" as the reserves, "what are YOU gonna do"? I think that would be a big NOTHING and the company/union knows it. The union along with the company couldn't possibly care any less about the reserves and our issues. It does NOT interfere with their lives. You can scream, shout, kick, scream and b!tch about it all you want but at the end of the day nothing will change for us (reserves) until we take a definite stand and draw the line in the sand. ENOUGH is ENOUGH. Be sure to chip in and do your part over the holiday. The company appreciates YOU. Gobble, Gobble, Gobble.... Remember you agreed to work holidays right? You didn't hear the interviewer mumble under their breath though that it would be FOREVER.

BOS has 31 reserve lines for DEC. ONE has ONE INV day and ONE has an OFF day on Christmas. As mentioned before, an off day will probably be assigned.
Again, pay a flat rate set amount for each holiday and for a reserve-make sure it is on top of guarantee.
I would love to see a response from the union about these issues. Hello? Hello? .......... *crickets chirping*

lets see, if I worked overtime I did not go home after my shift.

Mostly worked second and third shift.

And like someone said, when you took the job you knew weekends and holidays are part of the job.

A real sacrifice is being in Iraq or Afghanistan and away from your family at the holidays.

So, in other words...you DID/do get to go home when finished with any given workday = different case than faced by the FA's.

"A real sacrifice is being in Iraq or Afghanistan and away from your family at the holidays." Very true, and performed for the survival and benefit of the USA...not to serve corporate greed(at least not directly), nor union lack of concern. Have you, by any chance ever served over in The Sandbox yourself? The compared perspective you offer's fully ridiculous...trust me.

As for:quote name='700UW': "You won't find any sympathy from me on this issue."

I'm curious: Why would/should any of the Flight Attendants actually care the least bit about what you "think"?

I totally totally agree with you....Call John Petronzi head of sched and ask him why the lines were made this way for Dec. He has the answer. You can reach him on the 800 #

Read above. You will see how your union responds. It was posted for all to see.

Why don't you all set up your own web site to discuss reserve ideas. See if you cannot overlay your ideas onto present contract, even to taking over with suggestions. It sounds you could basically embarrass the company product fairly easily, lengthening report times and giving reserves more days off per month.

It is like Carol Austin showing "them" how to schedule 757 trips in 1993, and saving well over $1 million per month. Companies action was to take away her access to build trips. Crew-members should have sat down for a day.

A little public embarrassment would do this company a world of good.

I have no idea what he would say, but here's why.....

Scheduling additional reserve crews at crew bases to operate flights if necessary.

Taken directly from the press release about the steps US is taking to prevent problems for the holiday. Since no F/A's are being hired, where are those extra reserve crews coming from? More reserves on call.

Mike Finn's response to etops is posted above. And he is John's boss. Why bother

Just ask the RSV's out West how they feel about Mike Finn. It's not pretty and those people are fit to be tied as well. I just think it's the usual arrogance from Tempe "We're in charge here and you're the hired help so you will do what we say". Well good luck with that because all this management is doing is destroying morale to the point that it will take an act of god to get people back in their corner.

As a side note, I think it would do all the RSV's (from both sides) good to get together and let both MEC's know that they want a say in this next contract. Whatever difference there is in culture needs to be set aside. Get some of those furloughed folks that worked out West involved because they have lived both sides and are probably more knowlegable than anyone.

sky high states: You act like Reserves are the only ones working over the holidays. Pick up the bidsheets, ALOT of the blockholders will be out there too. They hold blocks that touch the holidays, year after year after year. IT'S HARD ON "EVERYONE" WHO WORKS THE HOLIDAYS. (not by choice)

And, lets NOT forget how unpredictable weather can be: http://news.aol.com/story/_a/stormy-weathe...120090709990002

"Wednesday is going to be a nightmare over a lot of the country," Moore said. "Although it's not going to be a colossal storm, there's going to be so much rain and low clouds, I would say there are going to be significant delays over large parts of the country."

Airlines are predicting record numbers of passengers during the 12-day period surrounding Thursday's holiday, with about 90% of seats filled. President Bush last week took the unusual step of announcing several measures aimed at reducing delays, which have hit record levels this year.

People flying during the Thanksgiving holiday - particularly on the three busiest travel days, Wednesday and next Sunday and Monday - should be prepared to be late and face disruptions, said Kevin Mitchell, chairman of the Business Travel Coalition, a consumer advocacy group. "Lower your expectations and build as much time in as you possibly can," he said.

Rain, fog and wind triggered delays Monday in Chicago, the New York City region and Philadelphia.

ummm OK look at how many trips have gone to reserve coverage yesterday and today. Ohhhh yeaaaaaah the blockholders are STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE baby. Give me a freakin break. We sit all month with NO PER DIEM only to work trips that they don't want to fly. You DO have blocks for December with Christmas definitely OFF though I'm guessing it's safe to assume? Quite a few actually hmmmmm? I rest my case. RESERVES DON'T MATTER! ! ! Spin the issue if you must.

sky high states: Yesterday? Today? Remember trip improving?

If their trip TOUCHES Thanksgiving, they HAVE TO FLY as well as OVER THE WEEKEND. Blockholders are OUT THERE!

With all due respect, the thread is about reserves. Feel free to create one lamenting the status of blockholders. The thing is, most of them are out flying, not trapped in some crashpad in Ridley Park. Have a heart Sky High. Reserve brushes 15yrs around here. It is a fact that the situation is untenable. Allow them their vent thread for heaven's sake.

We just started a web site for reserve. come and check it out. we will be sending out a letter so we need lots of signature. one of the topics is to hold in escrow the union dues. why does Mike Flores feel we should pay the same? because if would not be fair to b/h if they were the ones to pay the 4 dollar difference. hmmm does not have a problem with reserves being treated like crap though. I will also email crew scheduling and find out why we do not have one line with Christmas off...make sure you all flood his email with same
