That's interesting. You have AFA negotiating outside a contract for an exit package for +15 year flight attendants, why not negotiate for a holiday bonus pay for flight attendants working Christmas this year? I know, the accountants from hell that currently serve as management would initially shriek, but it actually makes more sense and would be more effective than the threatening emails. Historically Us cancels over a hundred flights every Christmas due to crew shortages. One could argue that this year has a perfect storm in the making: new agents in PHL that make $9/hr, reserves that are starting to question their future and due to the matrix last year, mid senior flight attendants without Christmas vacation. Without a history of excessive sick calls and in possession of a doctor's note, what really prevents them from deciding this is the year? What I have wondered for years is how US has never been outed for the fact that meltdowns occur EVERY Christmas, and have for the last 15-20 years? Would you trust US with your holiday? Do you recomend US to your loved ones or do you intervene before they book?
Obviously the bonus would have to be significant, but we all know that the senior mamas are a very money driven bunch. I would really like to see Mr. Flores comment on this. At the very least an attempt should be made. I'm tired of working a transatlantic with 5 people on Christmas day. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving!
