Philadelphia is in desperate need for ground equipment TUGS, Beltloaders, Pushback, and lots and lots of Freight baggage carts are needed not later but today. In as little as 4 weeks the loads will begin to pick up leading to heavy holiday loads. Anyone remember last year? The company got caught with it pants down and blamed the workforce last year. Folks the same situtation is going to happen again if the new MGT. doest start tommorow to get massive amounts of equipment.

Mr Parker if your reading this blog;
Equipment is needed and lots of it in not later but in Philly tommorow before a meltdown happens again.

Your the NEW CEO dont let the workforce down, give them the tools to do there jobs and Philly will make a ton of money this season!

The equipment in Philly has been going down hill very fast over the past few years last year it was bad this year it will be worse. They have so much broken and just worn out equipment it just needs to be replaced. The company just gave the express bag room to mainline to operate and now mainline is short 10 more tugs. They were very short before now its a joke. The have Assigned Bag Runners waiting for Tugs in the morning now due to shortages. Nights you may have to wait 30 to 40 mins just to get a tug. Once you get a tug spend 10 more mins or more looking for a Cart to pick up the bags which are already on the ground. (if the agents have a working or can find a beltloader) Needless to say many bags miss because the company won't correct the problem. PHL now is moving into cold weather season an its going to be a nightmare for the workers just trying to do there job! The passengers will pay the price in missconneted and lost bags.

Mr Parker PLEASE GET US MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF EQUIPMENT BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS

Ya know, I fly all over the system east of an ORD-IAH line and see a lot of stations where no one on the ramp has on a US ID or uniform. In most of them, though, there's plenty of ground equipment painted gray with US Airways on it......

Rumor has it that Parker asked AL why so much extra equipment was in IND and not in Philly? Would liked to have seen AL's tap dance to his new Boss

I am glad to hear that mainline is now running the express bagroom, that was always woefully understaffed. As for the equipment, as the flights increased it doesn't look like the equipment followed suit. Can mainline not take some of express' tugs? If they aren't doing the bagroom or running bags, then they will only need tugs for pushbacks.

Not only did mainline take over the bagroom, but I heard a rumor that they're about to take over their ABR and Philly/CABR as well.

I second the line of this thread.

Tonight I flew flt 893, an A319 from PHL to PIT.

On the walk around there was a big puddle of hydraulic fluid unerneath the bag loader, it had given up the ghost. The loading belt assembly would not go up, it just sat there.

There is broken equipment all over this station.

Like they say in PIT, "it all needs fixed."

I believe that the Equipment in the Outsourced Stations was sold to the Contractors. I know that in my former Station that the sale of the GSE was a requirement for the vendor to swallow if they wanted the contract.

Thanks for the info, wings. That's the first of several things I'll probably learn today.

I have to agree with this thread PHL is in no way ready to handle the amount of luggage freight and mail that we will see in the coming weeks. Right now with bookings around 16,000 daily the ramp has a hard time getting the job done due to no equipment.

When the loads increase the public will begin to hear and see on the news that passengers are upset about not getting there bags. I doubt if the new management cares if they did the would have fired Crellin.

dougie,we don't do anything rational at U....get used to it.

you know when seigel came to pit some 3-4 years ago everyone whined about the PHL situ....he dutifully gathered a group of concerned around himself and took notes....something was to be done immediately....now some time later....whats the gripe,it was fixed.

Well the latest rumors on the equipment is the company has ordered 1.8 million but the numbers of tugs we get for that isnt enough. Some tugs should be coming in but have heard on no dates for arrival. The other news heard was beltloaders are on order as well but have heard they will not arrive until Feb 06. If this is true alot of planes will sit long periods at the gate waiting to be off loaded or load. The status of equipment is gettin so bad since the weather change Tugs Beltloaders that are on the field are not starting.
So the Meltdown trickle has begun! Soon it will be alot worse I forsee the 3rd week in November as a real problem because of extreme loads Philly will face and God help US if snow storm hits or the belt system goes down . There are not enough bag carts for the light loads and with heavy loads you might as well get ready to call U-haul or Ryder.

From the workers view they don't see General Patton and the 3rd Armour coming over the hill to save the day.

I guess the media will have a field day again!
