Yep...Piney Bob is on target...and I like to tell all you guys and gals out there that.."A career is just that, its not your life" there are other ones that make the gut alot more peaceful, and sleep more easier.
Allegheny may be hiring fas, but we are going to have around 30 pilots furloughed on Oct 1st with more to follow. PSA is about to hire pilots, when it looks like ALG and PDT are going to lose aircraft at a great rate. We have been told at ALG that we will be down to 16 planes by the end of next year while PSA is going to double their fleet. That is a huge kick in the face.
Gee....What a news flash, this "down sizing" of ALG and PDT has been on going for a good while now. At least ALG will be around, not to any size, but around just the same. As for ole' PDT who's to say, but since ALG has taken over about 50% of PDT"s services ( the SSO), I'll say the real kick in the ole" pumpkin will be to PDT..... Halloween is close by stay tuned.
I don't believe ALG and SSO has taken over 50% of ops. They have taken Payroll, Human Resources, and Benefits. They have NOT taken Flight Operations, Dispatch, and Maintenance. Piedmont still does in house maintenance and heavy checks. At one time they used to do ALG's. I think that went away when SSO came around. Doesn't ALG do their Heavy checks in BNA or something?
Either way, it really doesn't matter. We'll all read about it on the front page of Money section in USA Today before managment tells us!!! It's all about Crystal Cities "Shock and Confuse" plan.
PSA will not be hiring for some time. The J4J guys are accepting all the slots so far, and they are only down 600 on the list. By the time we get all the way down the APL list and then go back up it, it will most likely be late 2004. The only way PSA would start hiring again is if CCY said to keep some Dorks around to cover flying MESA can't because they are still behind in their jet delivery schedule. If we do have to hire, furloughed PDT and ALG pilots get first dibs on those positions.
