Passenger Asks"why Don't You Do That Too"

"Guess these 9 passengers will be eating blue chips in the future. We only have ourselves to blame."

Really? Should we be blaming "ourselves"? We have some departed leaders that left with more money than we can count. Their only concern was and still would be is that our flights leave on time, everything is crisp and polished, and that we should have our blazers on.

Also, FWIW, it would be quite expensive if, for example, US were to do something like this in a large station.
Absolute dollars aren't the issue. You need to keep in mind that US also has many more dollars flowing through a large station. It's the relative cost (percentage) that matters. It'd be the same relative cost for US as B6...except that somehow US would find a way to make it cost twice as much per pizza.

There is no doubt in my mind that U lost some passengers to this other carrier that night. It has nothing to do with weather, ATC, or anything that may be "beyond" U's control. It has everything to do with fidelity. This is far from a money issue (immediate expenses.) Does anyone think that any of U's passengers sitting there without pizza (or anything else) felt as if they were important? JB's (or whoever) customers at least probably felt wanted or important. The sad part is, that there is a good chance they spent a bit less on their ticket and got treated as if they spent much more. They will remember that. Having customers is one thing, keeping them is another.
