Parker's take on the old AA and Labor

You are such a hater.

Only the # 1 airline in the world and expecting to make record profits that the industry hasnt seen before.

And you're fellow Wall Streeters loved the idea of the merger and the new stock is rising fast.

The longer the two operations can remain separate the better as far as I'm concerned. Not looking forward to the dumpy US planes on AA routes.

Josh,

It's ashame you don't let facts get in the way of your ranting on US.  Let's see average age of US fleet 12.1 years - average age of AA fleet 13.9 years - AA has the dumpy planes.  I've been on many AA aircraft lately and they were in horrible condition and no better than US.

I hope your city converts to an all US fleet and crews.

Yet the silly AA unions were embracing DP and this useless merger with the strategically weakest and dumpiest airline.Josh
I wonder who they will embrace after they figure out nothing has changed...

According to one of our stock guys who is now VP of the region and was in on negotiations, they kept the vacation and skipped one of their annual pay increases of 3%.
That is not totally true.  They got most of their money at the front of the contract and also now get 75 cents an hour skill pay.  If you figure in the skill pay they got all the raises everyone else got and kept their vacation too.  Also since they got most of it up front, they will make it for longer than everyone else.  Again I'll tell you there were NO GIVEBACKS in their deal.  How did they fund their cost neutral raises?  I'll tell you how, they funded it with my 6th week of vacation TWU took from me.  They also took a week from fleet service to fund their cost neutral contract.  The numbers don't add up and stores nor the TWU will tell us where the money came from to fund their raises while keeping the vacation that we lost to fund ours.  Ask your stock clerk buddy if he will tell you where the money came from.  He won't tell you because it came from AMT's 6th week of vacation.  Check out the seniority list for AMTs and see for yourself how many would have qualified for their 6th week of vacation by the end of the contract.  In Tulsa it is almost 50%.  Lets not forget that neither fleet or stores ever lost their longevity pay or sick pay while taking less percentage pay cuts than AMTs in 2003.  That is why AMFA is such a threat.  If and when we are gone we'll see how good their negotiators are.  I just hope that day happens.

I dunno, your guys at the table set the bar pretty low...
You got that right.  But the guys who are responsible (Videtich, Gless, Little) will never be allowed to sit at the negotiating table again.  If and when AMFA gets in we will have completely different people.  These guys will be AMTs who care only for AMTs and are not interested in taking from AMTs to fund raises and other benefits for other groups.  The simple fact that a guy who drives a fork lift and has no responsibility gets an extra week of vacation and sick benefits as well as longevity pay that AMTs don't is a complete travesty.  Also throw in the fact that this guy is above the industry standard in pay.  Who does it look like the TWU is representing?  Not AMTs.  You think AA is going to tell AMFA that they need concessions from AMTs so they can pay for raises for stores?

For the record I have no problem with a stock clerk getting good pay and benefits.  My problem is I think AMTs deserve the same benefits as stock clerks.

I don"t disagree. The good news is that those guys are gone. 'Course that also means a lot of excuses are gone too. I sincerely hope you guys achieve what you've set out to do.

Ramp & Stores got a "MUCH' better contract than the M&R,
IMHO, the twu did it on purpose as they knew the M&R are gutless.
The iam/twu alliance will continue to de-nut  what little tenacity the M&R has (if any).
Don't attempt to beat up Ramp and Stores for the **** you guys voted for.
You guys need to get a set instead of deflecting blame,

Having a few AMT's doesn't hurt, but you've got to have some professional negotiators at the table as well. I still maintain that the reason the TWU has been fleeced all these years is because they keep sending laymen to the negotiating table when the other side is staffed by MBA's and finance guys.

When you're emotionally and financially attached to the contract, you don't always make the best decisions. Sometimes you settle for something that sounds good for the QOL, but winds up costing you more in the long run e.g. giving up profit sharing...

When does Doug Parker lie ? When he moves his mouth ! Wait to you really get to see what this management team is about !
