Painting of the Fleet

Now that the consolidation is maybe done for now the rest of the fleet will finish the painting process. I don't think the crew in Tempe was going to waist money painting a/c if they were going to get possibly repainted in another airlines colors. Just my guess that we are going to be a stand alone carrier for now, so says Tempe. Just my thought <_<

Personally, I don't think ANY Merger 'Talk' had anything to do with repainting of the fleet. It costs a lot of money to REMOVE the airplane out of the schedule, juggle the rest of the fleet around to Cover the schedule AND pay the vendor to complete the job. With a merger comes BRANDING.........US did a Quick Job of repainting the AWA fleet but unless the old US Blue is actually in dire need of a Makeover, it isn't critical to complete at this point. Delta is doing a VERY AGGRESSIVE Paint schedule because they need to eliminate the NWA brand since for all intents and purposes it doesn't exist anymore. Unlike the combined DL/NWA operation, US doesn't have as many spare airplanes to juggle around to make the REPAINTING a Priority.
 
Regarding DL-NW, the pre-merger NW fleet repainting is almost done. However, DL is also aggressively painting the pre-merger DL fleet as well. Having one fleet that looks the same is wise from a marketing standpoint, in my opinion. Certainly priority should have been given to the pre-merger AWA and NW fleets, but completing the job is an important step in branding. I would thinking painting when the planes are already out of service for the S-checks makes the most sense. If that's what US is doing, then the painting should be completed within the next year or so.

DL only has 150 planes left to repaint out of a post-merger total of 741. 23 of the pre-merger NW planes won't get the new paint as they are being retired this year; 10 pre-merger NW 757s remain to be painted.
 
Yes USairways is sooooo conscious of how they look. Hey I don't care as long as the airline becomes profitable.
 
They (the company) painted the west fleet first. To remove the America West livery. Done...as far as I know. I still see the west livery in the interiors on some. Oh well.

And as far as I know....they are just piece mealing the East fleet.

Be that as it may.....I want to know if they have put passenger life vests on the West Fleet????

From what I can recall, they painted the 767/757/330 fleet at lightening speed......

Please....the whole damn thing. I still remember my other half saying as I pulled each piece out of the box, "What on earth is THAT"? aaaaahahahaha :lol:

Oh and as for the 767/A330, I still don't understand why they didn't paint a widebody that goes to Europe in the Star livery. EVERY other airline that has a widebody has a Star plane. Nope not Mayburry Airlines. :rolleyes: I think I'll stay away from the "positive" thread. Ya know, being Debby Downer and all. :lol:
 
:angry: The pdt dash 8's need to have all all the fleet painted.The summertime temps are way too high.THe reason perhaps for not finishing the fleet is that the dash may be gone in a few years.Thats what a us exec said at new haven airport board meeting last year.Some parts are hard to come by for the 100's and the cycles are near to reaching their limits of some of the fleet.

I know..........the list is ENDLESS. The track suits need TO GO! No excuse for the lack of a widebody NOT sporting the STAR Livery (big, wide F/A's wearing a STAR logo pin don't count :lol: ). never a dull moment........
 
While I understand the need for consistency throughout the fleet, I really like the old blue US Airways colors. I am in no rush for the remainder of the fleet to get painted.

Not that anyone asked, nor do I care whether You agree, but FIVE Years later still not a fan of the swoosh and striped tail.....just don't find it appealing. Somehow misses the mark......rather amateurish in my book. I did think the former USBlue (many thought it was black) was much more classic and really stood out on an airfield or in the sky, but can understand the need to whitewash a DESERT Dwelling airline due to excessive heat and the Sun. Now the employee patronizing "Heritage Fleet"........call it A Day and REPAINT- never liked it from Day One and as Time goes On, Meaningless to Most. Like I stated at the beginning, It's My opinion and You'll Never Change It. I think STARBUCKS Coffee sucks and wouldn't drink it if my life depended on it. Some of you think it's the greatest crap brewed. It's your money, your stomach and I could care less.
