Outsourcing here we come!

From the article;

"According to the most recent statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, American and partner American Eagle outsource less than any other carriers. In the first nine months of 2011, American outsourced 23% of its $1.8 billion worth of maintenance, while American Eagle outsourced 24% of $235 million in maintenance".

So it looks like we contract out more than 10% currently, remember that the outsourcing cap is 35% above current levels.

Is there a provision in the LBO to insure honesty? We need to prevent cheating.
Once an outsourcing contract is signed, can the co. can't back out? But, then they did say there would be meeting with the union to have discussions.

Exactly what will prevent the company from exceeding it's own targets? What penalty for violations?

just another reason to Vote NO.

the company can't even give accurate figures to the union. 58% combined maintenance outsourcing. Bob, did the company give the union the number of aircraft they expect to have in the MAINLINE fleet when the S-80's and 757 are gone???

Wipe 35% of mechanics off of the seniority list. That's on top of the 1200 AFW guys.....900 Tulsa guys and How many Line guys???

That's approx 2500 gone before the 35% takes effect. I say when it's all said and done....there might be 3000 title one mechanics left standing. That's a HUGE hit!
