Jim,

You do not have very many nice things to say about US or many well wishes/ positive forward looking statements since you retired. Retirement treating you well?
I think Jim is just being honest just like he always is. He doesn't give us a bunch of lip service or spin things to make it look good. Maybe the people in Tempe should try it sometime.

Isn't THAT the truth. Jim is usually right on the money. Sometimes the truth hurts. It is what it is.

Let me see if I can phrase it more cheerfully then.....

There are only 39 airplanes whose leases expire this year, and only another 61 in 2008. The really good news is that another 24 this year and 18 next year can be called back by the leasor before the leases expire.

The best news of all is that, if the DL merger goes through, these will more than cover the 10% capacity reduction Parker calls for without violating the DL pilot's contractual block hour provisions.

Jim

Jim is a gentleman who is both smart and objective. I would have been proud to have flown with him.

Actually due to rising costs of jet aircraft, USAirways will be bringing back 30 Shorts 360 aircraft from retirement. This due to the fact that USAirways refuses to pay market-rate for Boeing 757 leases.

And due to weight restrictions & center of gravity, the aircraft will only be fitted with 2 Envoy seats and 30 coach seats with a "generous" 31 inch seat pitch for use on our new trans-atlantic flying (ok, well it will almost make it trans-atlantic... err maybe they'll make it to Maine from Philly)

One of those were flying overhead and I passed one below, in a 1984 Ford Escort!
