OK AMT's Hit me with the new rumors...

Watch it Tech, I've recieved warnings, from the mods, for using the term that we are not allowed to use on DL premises! Are we banning it from the english language also ?

You will soon meet your share of them soon enough.

They will stand out like (insert phrase here).

You can't miss 'em... They're really good at applying orange stickers...

It's been my understanding that when referring to a group on here it's allowed, but not when targeting an individual.

I wouldn't be so smug. If a Delta mechanic has never faced the choice of standing with his union brothers or crossing the picket line to be a SCAB then you can't say they are better than anything. I knew a lot of guys that crossed the AMFA picket line. In the months that followed (on these forums) they argued their positions and reasons for crossing over. We've heard it all, "my family comes first, I'm too close to retirement, I made a committment to nwa, I needed my insurance...blah blah blah". For those that stayed on the outside (The Honorable), we had the same concerns, family, retirement, committment, insurance but we also had more grit. I can honestly look back and say that dishonor and shame don't apply to me or my fellow union brothers that didn't cave to the mighty airline.
So don't say you are all good little employees until you face the dragon. If you unionize, then make it work and don't be pushovers for your union bosses. If you don't get a union then keep em flying. Personally I would keep an eye on any SCABS that transfer in. Given their track record, they are dangerous. You need proof then go look at the longest post in forum history on the nwa pages.

A Delta mechanic is better then that! And deserve better fellow employees then what they are getting.

If Delta mechanics unionize, I guess I will have to look for another job. Thats how distasteful a union is to me.

If Delta mechanics unionize...

It won't happen. You've got a job for life. After all, someone has to remain non-union to preserve the Delta culture. Someone has to remain non-union to promote the direct relationship that management and the employees share. Someone has to encourage the Delta difference!

Ill be sure to let you know when I am updating my resume.

So you thought about your family but chose to ignore what could happen to them, all to stand up with your "brothers"? Now that's true grit!

You'll be the one that crosses a line someday because honor and sacrafice mean nothing to you. You've had it easy with Delta, probably never been dislocated or bumped out of your station. I wasn't worried about how my family (of six) would survive if I walked the picket line. I have faith in something greater that my employer. I was working at another job two weeks after nwa drummed us out the door. We got along on 2/3 of what I was making at nwa. It was actually a GOOD thing...a little belt tightening, knowing your faith is strong enough to see you through. Priceless experience that makes us stronger. I didn't go crying to the state, or wring my hands wondering if I made the right decision. I have lived in a union family most of my life. When my father went on strike I don't remember missing a meal or having to move out of our house.
But I understand you DT. Never had to face the choice. Don't have the experience with unions. Think that the company ALWAYS has your best interests at heart. I've been in the company meetings and read the company literature that says "you are the most important part of _____ Airlines", "We can't do it without you", "We value our employees". I'm sure you've heard all of this at Delta. Especially since Dick has taken over. He was famous for this kind of kool-aid at nwa. Hopefully you won't have to experience it. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
By the way, the family was not affected in the least. Kids are healthy, happy. Wife full of faith and fully in support of my decision. I would hope you have something like that DT but I think you trust in a smaller god and have a little less faith in your own abilities and talents. I'm not a psychic, but I play one on the forums.

Wow, what are you a caveman?
"chose to ignore what could happen to them", what a statement.
The lessons learned by standing up with your "brothers", is a lesson well learned in right from wrong, integrity, morals, honor etc....for any family.

I feel sorry for you and people like you that will always take the easy way out of a situation. No one ever said life is going to be easy. Tough situations call for tough decisions, tough decisions call for tough individuals, tough individuals don't take the easy way out.

:cop: Some of you are teetering close to the edge of your posts being personal. Please do not do this. Discuss the issues, not each other. Comments about other posters, their motives, or their character are not advisable.

As a father, I can think of few lessons more important to pass on to my sons than honor & integrity.

If you people arent AMT's , why do you care if we are unionized or not?

Most of these guys were AMT's at NW.

Why do you feel the need to comment on drives in other work groups?

Wow Kev, as per your first statement, finally something we agree on. Although honor and integrity are high up on the list. I believe the situation and our belief system defines how we show those characteristics.

You don't know me nor do you understand me. Honor and sacrife mean a lot to me but my priorities don't include a group of unionized people. I will always put my family first and I would hope you would do the same. I have seen too many sacrifices by people on strike, all because they were concerned what would happen to them if they crossed and not because they believed they were doing the right thing. Their union made that decision for them.
