Any truth to the rumor tht NWA is trying to unload there DC-9's to USairway's. I was in Detriot yesterday and all the agent were talking about this.

Where do agents get this crap. They are pulling your chain. Why would we want those edsels? I'm sorry but unless you are chief pilot, corporate, maybe upper union, or a "close friend" of one of these, then odds are you are not going to know such sensitive information. By the time it gets down to the airport level its like a bad game of telephone.

For example:
NW: Hey Doug we have these great DC9s at discount prices that we are sure you would like to buy.
DP: Hah!! Buy!!! click
NW: Hello?

DP: I'll buy!!!
 
Why is everyone posting things on this thread that are not US Airways related.

US does not own any DC-9s parked in the desert and if you think this rumor has any credibility I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn for you.

Come on people think, that is why you have a brain!
 
What would US Airways want with old DC-9's when they have brand new E 190's coming on line soon? Do you think it's possible someone said Nineteens meaning A319's and it snowballed into DC-9's somehow? It's to bad the rumor wasn't about A330's.
 
I heard that express is getting DC-3s from a South American cargo airline, Aero Axilla. They'll be painted in the old Allegheny colors and will be used on longer runs like PHL-DFW. They'll be all FC seats. In keeping with the retro look the FAs will all dress like Katherine Hepburn, Joan Crawford, or Donald O'Connor. IFE will play only old B&W films like The High and the Mighty.

i am personally looking forward to working the DC-9 agian. I loved sitting in the aft jumpseat between two awful smelling lavs, and having a tailcone exit, that quite frankly I had no idea how to open.

It is my understanding that they will be expanding the first class section on this plane to 26 seat like the A 321. It is already a done a deal. And the announcement should be coming out within the next couple of days.

The 9's that NWA has are as old as Dirt..
The ones that US had, were newer and nicer than any of the NWA ones are. Several of the NWA 9's were from Southern Airways, and they bought them used from DL. I don't know if they still fly any of the -10 series or not, and they did have a few -50's as well from RC. Either way, this is nothing more than a bad joke.... :shock:

A319's could be a possibility; I know 10 of our "baby busses" just went to Sibir Air.

I don't know if they still fly any of the -10 series or not...

Not for a while now. They're all working on their tans in MZJ....

:shock: :eek: :eek: Dc9's and MD 80's aircraft types that were, and still are the WORSE things to fly on and work on. I remember happily when US parked them!!!! Hated them and always will. Sorry, give me and Airbus or 75 anyday!!!
