AL and DC-9-5

Anyone remember the joke we used on new hires.

We would give them an empty bucket and send them over to another airline and have them

ask if they could borrow some prop wash :D

Even better when someone at TWA or whoever would be in on the joke and fill the bucket with blue juice.

Or
"Go over to TWA and see if we can use their "bin stretcher""

Classic But Defunct Airlines

I remember when waiting to park a flight a LGA a HUGHES AIR WEST plane came down the alley

I wasnt told at the time it was actually our flt. We leased the plane and it had a decal on the side

saying operated by ALLEGHENY AIRLINES.

We also had a Hawaiian Air DC9 . Can you picture that one flying from PIT to LGA and the

passengers boarding what their reaction was

Thanks for the link, it is interesting about what became and when.

That was 2:40 of hell waiting on it. I wished that you could have advised us that sound was not neccesary.
Hey, you could’ve hit the fast forward slider.

At least it wasn’t Lita Ford singing…

Oh no not the hair bands! I hear a song back from the '80's I I sometimes cringe. I go, damn, I listened to that? Some stuff was OK but most was horrible. But the years were fun.

I miss the days of Allegheny Airlines and hearing the song on the radio -

"the Allegheny Air System has a lot more going for you"!

.It was the loudest airliner I ever heard. The aircraft would be several miles away after take off and the roaring would still roll in.It was a great airport to watch jet airliners land & take off.Today all hvn has is dash 8's.A emb 170 to clt would be a nice addition.

I think the Caravelle was louder. It was the first comemrcial jetliner. Sounded like it was exploding when it took off. The ground shook. LOL! United flew them, all F class. And while we are remininscing, UA also flew a Caravelle from NY to ORD that was MEN ONLY. "The executive. I have an old timetable showing it.

That was an awful song and they just kept saying the same thing over and over. Like they wrote one stanza or less. LOL!

The Caravelle was not the first jet airliner.

That distinction belongs to the De Havilland Comet aircraft from the UK.
