AL and DC-9-5

I remember when AL got the BAC from Braniff and before they changed the interior they flew

them with the different colored seats. You needed sunglasses when you boarded.

I'm curious...Did everyone complain about the different colored seats back then like they do about the the A320 reconfiguration today? Just wondering.....

Actually it was only online a short time, if I remember correctly it even had a couple first class

seats in it. And it was sort of a novelty. And no they didn't complain at all, they thought it was

actually cool. But that was 30 years ago, and a different industry then.

...and alot more fun,too it seems like.

The smell off Buffalo wings stored in the galley. Remember when the Airways Hotel had a Dialnet line and they would deliver the wings to the FA's to bring to you?

Now that is delivery.

How could I forget that

Just called Airways they delivered it to the plane. The FA would be so hungry and so would

most of the passengers as they could smell them sitting in the forward galley :D

Boy that flt got turned fast

We had a few pilots that when they were in LGA and going to BUF and return, they would call

Airways with their order for the crew so it would be ready when they landed and pick-up

our order and bring it back down with them

How could I forget that

Ahhhhh ..... yes! The Airways!! Made the Lagoon pale in comparison! Paper thin walls, windows that not keep out the sound of the Rockets (Bac-111's) or the winter winds .... but the nicest Folks and "To die for" Wings. As a matter of fact, IMHO, they had the best food in the whole system! And that delivery to the Aircraft was awesome!!

Those were the Days!!!

LOL, I was an agent in BUF and you are right. Hotel wise, it was bad, but the food was the best and the staff couldn't be accomodating. Crew would delay flights waiting for wings but showed it as schedule. :) They now have a restuarant freestanding, the Shannon Pub. Same great food! Not near the airport though.

WOW ... Glad to hear that they survived! If you happen to go there ... please tell them that an 'Ole "Hawker, Allegheny, USAIR guy" appreciated all that they did for us, and the incredible meals they served when we were away from our Families!!

Permit me to add ... you Folks in Buf did an incredible job in Buf ... under the worst weather conditions! Makes a sham out of the recent Jet Blue issues at JFK!

:) I dont think it's the same people other than management. They sure did try to make you feel at home back at the hotel. All the crews said they LOVED BUF overnights. Yeah, hotel was nothing to look at but you felt like you were at home and with friends. The Shannon pub was great at night! And rememeber the jigsaw puzzles?

Thanks! It wasn't a place for sissies. LOL! Funny, we used to get calls from other stations asking us how to do things. What was the help desk for? They said we were better. LOL! BUF hosts the annual international airport snow symposium and has for years. Airport operators come here to learn bad weather proceedures. If BUF closes for more than an hour, say your prayers and head for the hills! :)
