Oh yes I will. I guess you will be the first line of defense next to your Slurpy machine and handle 2-3 terrorists. I guess you can hadle a heart attack victim and will know how to operate the AED. I guess YOU will know how to deliver a baby at 39,000 or handle a miscarriage with profuse bleeding. I guess YOU will know how to operate all emergency equipment and the location of it. I guess YOU will know how to brief or prepare your fellow passenger for an emergency. I guess YOU know how to handle phyically challenged passengers. I guess YOU know how to handle connection information. I guess YOU will take care of kids traveling alone. I guess YOU will handle a Sky Rage passenger. I guess You are going to monitor and reprimand passenger who are smoking in the lavatory. I guess YOU are going to pre-flight the cabin.

I GUESS YOU HAVE NO RESPECT FOR F/A'S. MANY F/A'S HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES DURING 9/11 TRYING TO SAVE YOU BIG ARSE. AND THOUSANDS OF F/A'S OVER THE YEARS HAVE SAVED AND PROTECTED PASSENGERS.

You are a JERK!!!!
Yeah, what he said!

Don't you all realize that management took the biggest headcount cut last year than any other work group in the company!!! Sorry, but no sympathy from me here for you union folk
Yeah,in Tulsa the lowest paid staff assistants were the ones put on layoff. The Management protected the TOP HEAVY supervisors and managers.
We still have 2 supervisors per shift on 1 "C" Check Dock position[days and afternoon shift]
This could be reduced by 50% and never miss them.
There has not been any significant management layoffs at Tulsa other than low paid support personnel.

SHOW ME THE MANAGEMENT CUTS AT TULSA!

We actually are a very brilliant work group!
I assume this means you're not representative of the group as a whole, then. 😛

Staff assistants are not mangement. Management as in salaried employees on a % basis took the biggest amount of lay-offs.

That being said AA still has too many employees management and union. To compete with SWA, AA needs a similiar pay scale and a similiar employee to plane ratio.

All flight attendants are brilliant. We know how to "work" the system to our advantage. 😉

Now get back to your suit-tie/9 to 5 job. 😉

Hey galleyguy,
That wasn't me who said that, it was whatever his name is. Somehow your post showed me as saying we could all be automated.
But you know, maybe he could come up with some STEPFORD automated clones (OLD Movie) who could do our job and still look beautiful with tight asses and high tits 4ever. 😛

Aren't these rare eventualities that you are supposedly trained to deal with and paid for accordingly?
I think AA Stew is making a valid point. Times are changing, and if F/A's weren't required to monitor the welfare of the SLF and feed their faces, then they certainly wouldn't be there.

I do have respect for F/A's and I hope that their jobs are safe in the future, but you have to agree that nothing is set in stone in this industry.

I don't think that any F/A's would have saved anybody's "Big Arse" on 9/11 unless they were on reserve from the Marines and armed! So that's a bit harsh..........Nobody on those aircraft stood a chance........

I think that a more appropriete statement would be "Thousands of F/A's over the years have served and comforted passengers."

Flight Attendants will never be "automated"! The work groups that should be worried are reservation and ticket agents. The internet and self service kiosks at the airport are taking over and the public seems to like it better.

All flight attendants are brilliant. We know how to "work" the system to our advantage.

If a flight attendants job is so hard and all the flight attendants are so brilliant why are they one of, if not the, lowest paid work groups?

Here's a hint, it would take AA about a week to replace the entire workgroup with people just as capable.

See, in America, other than unions, we work on a meritocracy, which means that the smartest, hardest working, most qualified people get the best jobs and the most money. Unlike unions, its not based on how old you are. Its not a random drawing, so when you see someone at the top level of management its safe to assume he/she did some to deserve it. When you see a F/A that has 30 years experience its safe to assume he/she either couldn't get a higher paying job or wasn't willing to put in the work to get one. Just because you've been doing something a long time doesn't mean you deserve more money. Every person I speak with constantly complains about the flight attendants at AA. Sure some F/A at AA are great, but where there is smoke there is fire.

People like LIVEINAHOTEL that are bitter at the world because the economic conditions are taking away their cushy lifestyle are AA's biggest problem.

with so many brilliant people in this forum, you would think you would all be the CEO of your own airline. I have yet to see anything constructive or positive at all. But this is the minority of the airline. The minority is usually the loudest and bit++ the loudest.

Now go right ahead and call me a slacker, union hater, and every other childish thing you can think of. In the end you will all be bitter and angry and I will go on with life and play the hand that it dealt me.
Ah, give it a rest, pleeezz....this was turning to such a nice thread. ^_^

You call that a hint? Obviously you don't work in the airline industry. It would take 6 weeks to train a flight attendant to be certified with the FAA. The airline can request a 3 week training course if desperate. It can take up to 2 weeks for an airline just to run a background check on an applicant. So in reality you're looking at least 5 weeks or so just to get someone qualified. 😉

Excuse me, to find and identify willing and qualified applicants, I'm aware that there is a six week training course and backgrounds checks, etc........ (wow, a whole six weeks huh?)

Nope, you were speaking in a public forum. And, given your propensity to regularly launch incessant personal attacks on other members of this forum, I figured tossing in a jab in your direction wouldn't be a big deal.
