MOD NOTE:

IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, DON'T SAY IT.

As I understand the situation pilot sick calls have doubled or tripled there
normal level since the bankruptcy filing.
Not shocking given the events of the last week.

I guess the thought police does not like it when someone post something that another poster with carte blanche does.

I agree with the moderator. Why do you constantly have to bash people? Try saying something productive man. Its not that hard...

Its amazing how some posters continue to think other posters are the only ones with special privileges. Just worry about your own posts.

Back to the topic.....

I'll bet a lot of folks are having stressful, sleepless nights. I don't blame the pilots a bit if they are too stressed to go to work occasionally during this fiasco. It would be IRRESPONSIBLE and AGAINST the FARs to go to work as a pilot if you are not physically or mentally able to perform the task safely. Same thing applies to mechanics and other licensed employees as well.

With the management team at US Airways, it's only a matter of weeks anyway. It really doesn't matter what or even if they pay the employees, these guys DON'T have a clue about how to run an airline.

About 20-25 cancellations today for lack of crew. Of course this will now carry over into tomorrow since some of the flights were the RONS.

Are you speaking of Mainline flights only or including all cancellations?

Mainline cancellations due to lack of flight crew only. There were quite a few more for ATC/Weather, Maint and Field Conditions.
This does not include any of the Express ops today.

US Airways' pilot sick calls are high since the bankruptcy filing. It's my understanding they're coming from the very top and the very bottom of the seniority list.

The sick call problem could be fixed in the near future because Flight Operations is discussing changing back to the more restrictive sick policy.

Separately, when the pay cap is incresed either by mutual agreement or imposition, there will not be a pilot shortage.

Respectfully,
