  Everything they touch! Did anyone think this would go off without a hitch? So please don't expect us to know anything about your connecting flights.

Subject: Connections Lists

The Enhanced Preliminary and Final Reports were successfully activated
yesterday morning. Due to some technical issues, the Connections List on the
EFR is displaying the inbound connections versus the outbound connections.
Our IT department is seeking an immediate resolution to the problem.

Until the programming is corrected, please suspend announcing connecting
gates onboard. Please refer passengers to the Flight Information Screens in
the airport or to usairways.com on their wireless PDAs.

Thank you

Actually with a new inflight system you should be able to display connections on the screens about 10 minutes out from landing like Cathay Pacific.

That works at REAL airlines...but this is LCC US Airways! Let's please not allow IT in their present shape or form onboard our aircraft. I value mine and my passengers lives too much for that! I can just see them making a half-arse attempt at this and knocking out all the computers in the flight deck!

Why even speak to a passenger? We have nothing to give them, not industry standard service, not the most general expected information, not resssurance. We don't have anything.

I'm working on my resume before my dignity is gone too.

This is not a big deal. No other airline announces connections, and quite frankly I always hated listening to the long list when no one was really paying attention anyway. Plus, the gates printed on our boarding passes are the same ones you're reading. Now ... if you could get a real time feed from the ground and give us the gate changes, now that would be worth announcing!

They don't? When I fly majors they do. AA even made a commercial ( yeah, they are a marketing machine ) out of reading connections this year. Cute one too.

I don't like reading them to be quite frank. It sounds like a bad game of bingo however, it's proceedure and some expect it. My employer pushes us to do it yet can't give us the tools for that basic function.

On some airlines, as you are taxiing in, the monitors come down and display the current departure monitors.

Are we almost starting to expect blatant incompetency? I hope we never get used to this, but I can almost see how one does.

Lets be real hear people and tell the customer a little about the connection list from those who work the departure gates.

-First off, your flight crew,by law, is to be given a passenger manifest and connection list before we close the aircraft door and push back. NOT !

-You will now notice that 10 minutes prior to take off they trap you in the jetway and shut the door.

-There are more managers that employees on the jetway during "Fleet Launch"(first bank of flights that go out daily, where the company gets all their statistics for on time departures). The passengers are literally tripping over gate checked bags and being shoved into the aircraft.

-Can you help it that you are in zone 5 and not permitted to board early? The gate agent is trying his/her best to get the flight finalized and has no idea at this point what the departure count is because if they open the jetway door to run to the podium all the rest of the passengers that the company locked out---especially standbys will cause a pandamonium.

-In the midst of all of this, management is now telling the flight crew what to do? NOT! They are using the on board mike to advise passengers that if they don't sit down they are to get off. How rude is that? If they could gate check your coat (...lack of closet space) they would hand you a tag. Many overhead bins wind up empty because it is quicker to grab your carry-on , tell you there is no more space and strap you in your seat where you belong.

- Manifests have connection gates on them also. In shares (everything is backward) , you must print your outbound list in order to get INBOUND connections and vice-versa. Beach boy is right when he states sometime, if any , they will get an inbound connection list because the mind works that way but not SHARES.

-The end result is door closure, jetway off. It is a mystery who is on the flight, how many passengers are on the flight, if anyone that shouldn't be on the flight etc.

 Not on my flight they won't. I don't come in the gate area and touch the microphones and mine is a piece of safety equipment. Let them try to start that crap on my flight. In the words of Air Hostess Candy on the Golden Girls...

Give me that! Take a seat! This isn't the Coppa-Cabana !!!

I've flown UA, CO, DL, AS, NW and US in the past 12 months. Not one except "US East" has ever announced connections. I haven't flown AA since 2000, so perhaps I spoke a tad too broadly. My point still stands. Unless the information is updated and not simply what's already on our boarding passes, there's no point in reading through the list.

Just make an announcement to suggest that the passengers text on their phone TEXTUS (839887), it will give them their correct gate connection with their flight number. And it works everytime!

Good grief. Don't you have a Walmart smock to be modeling through PHX JetSettertoORD? Thank you so much for the "tidbit" of information.
USFlyer- I agree. I have always said they put it on the ticket stub, they used to write it on your ticket jacket. The agent tells you before boarding and it's on the Internet. If you can't find your way to your connecting gate without having us tell you outdated info then you have no bees wax flying period. And you should always check the monitors. But, they drill this into our head that we are to read it and people do ask. With under 60 min International connections if your 1 min late people panic. That's a whole other drama from Tempe but I digress. They want us to do something and done' give us the tools to do it.
