New route continues Southwest's Pittsburgh expansion

National Airlines prior to their merger with Pan Am in 1978 flew from DCA to BWI.Just enought time to cycle the gear and flaps. Flight originated in TPA with stops at DCA and BWI before finishing at JFK.I remember the Capt's pre-daparture breifing mentioning a block time of :12 mins!

yrs ago i flew on a DASH-7 from DCA to BWI for a visit at my granparents and the flight took 8 minutes just enough time to see the monument and govt bldgs then key bridge and the touch down

Isn't that because of the EAS contract?

Yeah. But you can't do many US connections via IAD. CLT is closer than IAD.

They used to do 2XCLT, 1XPIT about 10 years ago, which was nice.

Then again, when I first moved here in '91, CCAir did 5XCLT before they went under.

Allegheny Commuter used to fly between North Philadelphia Airport (I don't even know the code) and Philadelphia--20 miles??

Eastern used to fly between MIA and FLL. About 25 miles?

I've flown it both ways between INT and GSO in a B-727.

I MISS IT!!!

A320 Driver :(
