New Attendance program

Pretending I work for US for a second..

There are two different kinds of FMLA, regular and intermittent as far as I know. For example, my heart condition is permanent, and therefore would qualify for intermittent fmla because I would have to miss work due to dr's appointments or problems that could arise at any time. So I call out on the sick line or to admin or whomever and make sure that I am specifying that I'm out using FMLA for myself.

Now let's say that I have, oh I dont know, Peeeeneumonia because I caught it in the hospital while getting treated for said heart condition. I would still be calling out under FMLA, but I would need my dr to fill out two different forms because 1 was for intermittent/heart condition and then another issue arose that still qualified me, but is not a permanent condition. The second FMLA took me out for three more weeks, but the FMLA is only good for those three weeks that I was out. So I would just kind of get permission for being out for three weeks and if it was approved there would be no occurance.

The first FMLA though, if I feel my heart racing any given day I'm supposed to work, or I couldn't move my cardiologist appointment, I can call out and specify that I am taking FMLA for myself/my heart and the FMLA office would know since it's on file and no questions would be asked. If I ended up having to have surgery to correct that, I could call out FMLA in advance for the surgery and still get no occurance.

Of course this is all just hypothetical and it's the way I understand it. You know I dont have any kind of handbook in front of my though so sorry if there are inaccuracies.

kiss kiss!

The new attendance policy point system was intended to standardize the application of the attendance policy across the system and not allow managers to make deals or treat an individual different from anyone else. Secondly, it replaces 2 different systems in use from the previous companies. The system that will be implemented seems a little harsh and will need adjustments as it is used. There is an ongoing discussion within the management ranks as to application in various scenerios. While the local managers may present it in a positive manner, don't believe that they all support it whole heartedly.

You need some help in the human side of things. We are all different with different issues. One may have a sick mother or one may have a son or a daughter that is ill. One may have health issues of his or her own and we have laws for most of it. In the end we are all different some are hard workers that show up all the time on time even for years maybe even 10 or 30 years have a little bump in the road and need a little help and you want to toss them under the bus all the name of STANDARDIZED APPLICATION......what a loser ............

One person may take a bus that the company provides and when the bus is late there is no provision for it...or in your case just write them up.

THIS COMPANY MAKES ME SICK............AS ALWAYS THEY NEED TO HAVE BAGS MISS FLIGHTS AND DELAYED FLIGHTS TO HEAR OUR VOICE BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT SIT AND LISTEN

I hate the proposed attedance program more than anyone ... but i don't think that kind of threat is called for by far ...

I beleive that we can "talk" this through with the company .... meanwhile we must strive more than EVER to improve our operations .. we CANNOT slack off

not for a minute , not for a second ....

ah but you forgot the second part of that tadij .... you can only do that in good econmic times , not in bad ..... or should i say horriific econmic times

Wow, my panties got all up in a wad just reading this!!! Imagine what's going to happen when it, like, affects me or something!!!

OMG I hope they dont take my spatula....

I-Shannon, you will be okay with your extended medical leave and I do hope you are recuperating! How management will combine the present policy and the new policy is one of the biggest issues coming down. All those currently on levels of discipline should (surely not) be recalculated with the formula for the new ACP. Whomever put the new policy out there....and I do believe they were drinking the Kool-Aid, must tread lightly and cautiously because this ACP is not being swallowed very well by all employees concerned. In fact, it has caused yet another thorn in our behinds that leaves for a very unsettled workplace in cities both E and W. If they think this will die out they are grossly mistaken.

Is there going to be some sort of movement to create an independent union for customer service (of course, I may be jumping the gun here)? For the CWA to just sit on the sidelines and no know about what is going on is simply wrong!

Funny you should ask....there are several stations thinking along these lines....we either need to take back our union and get people like Velvet et all ousted or move on to a union that will work for us and not against us. I checked out the CWA site and its very misleading----the only person whom had the ACP program was Miss Velvet----WHY WAS IT NOT SHARED WITH THE MEMBERS/PRESEIDENTS OF THE LOCALS????

Why did she sell us down the river...yet again?
