I think this new policy is going to haunt US AIRWAYS because it should. IMO, this new policy discriminates against Christians since it only has restrictions on Christian holidays. This is shameful. I'm also reasonably sure that a re-valuation medically violates H.I.P.P A laws.
So what about all those that observe the Jewish, Kwanzan, and Pagan faiths? They all have holidays in the same time period. I guess their faiths don't count. And while we're on that subject, should I be offended for being restricted because of actions of the religious faithful during their holiday period? I'm sorry, but religious freedom is a poor curtain to hide behind on this one. These periods were chosen because history shows an increased frequency of absences then. Half of the people that call in on Christmas probably don't even give a damn what it means. They want to be there with their family to see the kids open presents. This policy does have huge issues with it, but please don't ignorantly drag religion into it.
We should be focusing on the substantial change in terms of contract, the legal questions that have been raised, the retroactive discipline, and the fact that this policy is only needed to to the ineffectiveness and incompetance of Management.
