Hey U management:

Nashville TN (BNA) has alot of empty space and plenty of room for a RJ hub! It is within 500nm or less from over 90% of every major city and market east of the Mississippi River! Lite Air Traffic and all the bells and whistles of a modern day big airport. American I think had a hub there a few years ago and about 5 years about ACA was thinking about putting in a RJ hub there for United. I think it is a great location.

The only bad point is that you will have to run Southwest out of there,,,they have pretty much taken over the airport and ran everyone else away with their MINI-HUB!

;) You are absolutely right! I totally agree...Nashville would make an awesome hub!... And it would also make a great place for a new Reservation Center, should USAIRWAYS decide to expand and open a 3rd location to compliment Pittsburgh & Winston Salem....Hmmm Pittsburgh, Winston Salem & Nashville as Reservation Centers..I Like it!!!!

It is centrally located...Opens up many possibilities for flights to the South, SouthWest and West....It is a great airport...low cost of living...mild climate...Not to mention a ton of folks in "Country Music" travelling around the country out of Nashville...

I see flights to New Orleans, Dallas, Houston, Gulfport, Mobile, San Antonio, Austin, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, etc....

Yes... Nashville... It is very cool... B)

1) Too close to CLT

2) Too infected by WN.

If BNA is to infected with WN what a great place to put the Dash8-400 to go against them
This is true. Or MDA RJs.

But, again, its too close to CLT.

STL was a much better idea. As too is MCI if you can run loads of RJs out of there.

What would you say to taking over most all the A terminal, fixing the gate security situation, and positioning 30 or so ERJ 170s or CRJ 700s at MCI?

As others have said, the substantial WN presence at BNA (not to mention STL and MCI) makes a regional jet hub a difficult proposition at best. Don't forget that AA still operates from BNA to LGA and LAX along with its hubs (though it does seem that the RJ's between BOS and BNA have been discontinued), and likely still has a significant frequent flyer base in the area. I don't exactly see how you compete against WN's cost structure using RJ's. Ditto for MCI -- what does US Airways offer the passenger on its new 70-seat jets to induce them to book away from Southwest -- especially given that WN currently has the most non-stops and a relatively generous frequent flyer program.
