---AMERICAN TO DROP A300S---
Under a capacity control program announced in May, American had planned to include some A300s in a plan that also cuts some MD-80s, Saab 340B turboprops, and a number of regional jets. The airline now plans to cut 10 aircraft from its A300 fleet by the end of 2008, while the remainder will be phased out in 2009. A previous fleet retirement plan would have kept A300s in AA's fleet until 2012. This 2009 retirement schedule will add to a capacity reduction plan that cuts up to 12 percent from American's 4Q08 domestic capacity compared to the same period in 2007.
So...
Since there won't be anything to replace all that capacity..I guess we'll see big time reductions again with the spring Sked change I bet?? My station hinted as such..and this will even affect Miami...the "safe" place.
