More AA gates coming in LAX

as much as you want to think otherwise, AA does not have some preferential relationship with AA. keep telling yourself otherwise if it makes you sleep better at night.
LOL.

During the LAX townhall 10 November, Kirby mentioned that AA has an agreement with Alaska to use some of their gates in T6. Looks like by summer 2016 AA will be growing a lot in LA. It sounds like T6 is going to be pretty busy with AA! One can only hope with 3 new international flights coming within the next 6 months or so that there will be more domestic flights coming soon as well. I firmly believe that PEK will start sometime in 2016 as well. Anyone ever find out definitely when the Alaska/Delta agreement goes away? Maybe with Alaska sharing with AA, that will squeeze Delta out of Alaska's gates as well. Add to this that T4 is going to be adding 2 gates next year this signals a decent increase in flights!

Interesting - just as was predicted several months back.

Indeed.  AA management - both before and after the merger - have repeatedly spoken on how serious they were about investment and growth at LAX.  I think recent words and actions demonstrate that they said what they meant, and meant what they said.  We shall see, but I agree that AA's actions on the ground at LAX seems to clearly signal that the company envisions substantial additional growth there going forward.

It is notable - given all the incessant rambling on and on about AA's intractable weakness and failure - that (at least as of what is scheduled/announced today) by next summer AA's LAX operation will not only have the same number of transpacific flights as Delta's SEA operation (five per day), but will also likely be up over 200 daily departures.  For comparison, I believe United at SFO and Alaska at SEA are both pushing about 280-300 and Delta at SEA I believe is at about 170.  Fairly impressive, I'd say ...

I might mention that AA taking over T5 was mentioned and it was suggested that it would happen and be finalized semi soon.

The item (LAWA's deal for T5) is on the agenda for the next board meeting (closed session).
