Michigan Right to Work

What "force?" They took down a tent. And how do we know it wasn't a set up?

I'm with you that civil disobedience works best, SH. But at some point, standing up to a bully is the most effective solution. That's what happened here (IIRC, these were AFP tents).

If nothing else, it should show that the working class is this country is pissed the f**k off, and tired of AFP, the Koch bros., etc. running roughshod over them. My question is: what took 'em so long to wake up??

I don't give a rat's arse if it was the Westboro Baptist churches tents. It's not anymore permissable now then it was when the Baldwins evicted coal miners from company housing in the 1920's and hired strikebreakers for $512/wk in 1975 to try to break the Brookside.struggle.

Honestly Kev, are you surprised? There is a backlash that is directly tied to Obama supporters in areas where Republicans hold sway. There is a reason Right to work passed and that's to "Pay Back" AFL-CIO and assorted unions for their financial support of Mr Obama. I'd also argue that the Democrats are of very little help to Labor as they created the rigged deck known as the RLA which you currently suffer under. I'm all for right to work the minute we do away with RLA, NLRA, NLRB and host of other cards in the rigged deck that keeps workers poor. Let's have that economic free for all

Honestly Kev, are you surprised?

No. Unfortunately, the whole idea of busting unions as a means to defund the Democratic Party is not news. I also agree with you that having a "D" after your name doesn't necessarily make you a candidate for the people. Until you & I see the parliamentary-style system we'd prefer, labor will have to get things done for themselves. That starts at the local level (city council/aldermanic positions, etc.), and goes up from there.

My only "surprise" is that some people are surprised at the worker uprising(s) we've been seeing. What'd they expect?

So who's busting the unions...the 93% who don't give a damn?

The video of the union thugs tearing down the AFP tent is going viral. Michigan is 20% union today. My guess is that is down to single digits within a year, just as has supposedly happened in Wisconsin (although I don't have the percentages to quote, maybe Kev does).

re: teachers unions. Nobody is expecting Einsteins, but if 90% of the kids in the state aren't reading at grade level, I find it hard to blame the parents. I worked in a unionized school district, and it was really easy to tell who had tenure and who didn't...

Well they apparently have move up from slogans and chanting to thuggery, unions are are not only jobs killers but the worst marketers in the world, wow what idiots!

Just heard a guy giving a speech...said three times "There will be blood".

Best union PR I've seen in a long time......

Democrats threaten violence on Michigan House floor

A friggin Congressman no less....LOL

Quaqmire, Private sector unions are now 11%, they are headed to single digits, it is an economic reality, they kill their own jobs resulting in less members!

A lot of things that used to be 'the way' are going by the wayside anymore.
How many things can you think of that that aren't relevant anymore?
Times change....

Did they fail to adapt?

darwinism /dar·win·ism/ (dahr´win-izm) the theory of evolution stating that change in a species over time is partly the result of a process of natural selection, which enables the species to continually adapt to its changing environment.

Pricing themselves out of existence.
How many unionized jobs have gone across the pond since the 50's?

Nope. Capital. They convinced a good chunk of middle class
America to work against their own best interest(s), and now they sit in their proverbial ivory towers and laugh and laugh while we fight each other...

Look on TV right now...that's the union thug mindset that makes the 93% care less.
