Merged Airline Faces Competition At Focus City

How many years did SW hedge their fuel for? And how long has it been since they did it? Just curious to see how much longer until the F/A wages catch up to them..

Hey barbee,

Why dont you actually try and hold a interesting debate filled with facts and information.

Oh wait, you dont have any to support your position.

I don't really need alot of facts and information to realise that you are a whiner and a cancer on this merged company. I'm not arguing that WN has made a profit in every quarter in the last 30 years. My argument is that if you are so unhappy, then you should leave. It is in everyone's best interest.

strap on hurt da widdle baby?

Surely nobody's actually surprised by the news that SWA is coming into the PIT market....and not just with a couple of flights here and there. They're simply capitalizing on US Airways' mistakes and miscalculations, a move which has proven to be successful for them time after time after time after time.

Hopefully we'll stand our ground (what ground we have left in PIT) and hold our own against them.

Apparently you don't know what it means to have a union contract and stand up for it.

If you call standing up against inept management whining then so be it.

I for one will not let management get away with the contract violations and their mistakes that have caused undue harm upon the employees.

I for one don't like to see executives get rewarded for failure and sqaunder the $3 billion employeees have given them all ready.

But like I said you DON'T work here so you DON'T know what has transpired.

Those of us live it everyday.

WN carries more domestic passengers then any legacy carrier.

And can you show me any legacy carrier that has been profitable for over 30 years straight?

They have over 400 aircraft to 60 airports, over 2,800 flights a day and carried 65 million passengers last year, and turned a profit.

Yet they still have the lowest load factor

i just read somewhere that SW has partial fuel hedged till 2009? Anyone????
[post="289295"][/post]

85% hedged for 2005 at $26/bbl.
65% hedged for 2006 at $32/bbl.
45% hedged for 2007 at $31/bbl.
30% hedged for 2008 at $33/bbl.
25% hedged for 2009 at $35/bbl.

This can be found in the LUV quarterly report.

So it looks like they'll still enjoy a significant advantage until mid-2007, assuming oil does not drop below $32/bbl.

Imagine that - profitable even with the lowest load factor. Profits, not bankruptcy. Profits instead of two bankruptcies in two years.

Load factors don't matter; Profits are the goal.

And, as others have pointed out, WN is not disappointed in PIT, with very high load factors and nine new flights announced.

Expect to see 40+ WN PIT flights next year. At reasonable fares, not price gouging fares.

Almost never the cheapest, very rarely the most expensive.
