while the rest of the country celebrates and pays respect to our fallen patriots of the past 228 years, we get to work thank's to the TWU/AA contract at straight time unless of course you wish to burn a vacation day which i have chosen to do out of respect for my deceased family and friends.

Yeah right! Like the few people who work in banks and government even know what Memorial day is for! Funny, when we had this day off Veterans never even got a mention!

At MCI the TWU has posted on their bulliten board a letter reminding us about Memorial Day. It says that the American Flag will be flown at half mast, and that we should take a minute to pay our respects. Thank-you TWU for reminding me that while I am using that minute to pay my respect, I have to be at work for 7 hours and 59 minutes more that the AA management and TWU officials. You guys are the best!

The few people that work for the government?

Why are you degrading these people?

Some of them might even be affiliated with your leftist AFL-CIO.

Smoke another one....

So you acknowledge that the TWU sold us out for this holiday and the others?

So we have to work Memorial Day. So do thousands of others!! It will always be something with you amfa boys, no matter what!!!! I can hear it now. . ."the TWU won't let me fart in public." Boo hoo!! :( :( :( Give me break!!!

There are 364 other days in the year to honor your familiy members (not to mention 16 other hours on Memorial Day). . . or did you forget about that?????

twuer you need to get a grip on reality. Why do we even need holidays if there are 16 other hours in the day. 364 other days to honor our family members? Maybe some people would like to honor them with the family members that are still alive and have the day off.

Go cry in your coffee Dave. Go have your pity party somewhere else. Oh, and you might plan for a bigger one when you lose this election fight!!!

It's really quiet pathetic when grown men cry and whine about not being able to give tribute to their loved ones who have died on one particular day. Kind of makes me think that it is not their loved ones they are concerned about!!??

So give us your spin on labor day and why its so much more important than memorial day or the 4th. I celebrate labor day 5 days a week. Your attempts at defending the twu are getting so bizarre and pathetic I'm starting to think your on managements payroll.

I know this isn't the right topic but since I'm here and your reading this tell us just how many cards aren't valid. Everything is subject to error so its really a no brainer to make a comment like this and be right. On the other hand to know how many people are in your employ in a certain craft and class and produce a list that is inflated by over 2000 is fraud. AA has come to think of the twu membership as idiots and you can damn sure bet thats how their looking at you, not that they mind, your just what they want in a twu member. No one in their right mind would defend this POS dues collection agency.

P.S. Have a great memorial day.

Your lack of respect for fallen Americans is disgusting but, your lack of defense for those that have to work on holidays, in defense of a union organization is down right sickening!!!

Please don't tell anyone that I am a member of the twu!!!

PS: twuer, just a friendly reminder for you to keep your panties in a wad to help keep your ass cheeks from chafing when an election is called!!!

Always excuses, never answers. People like you who seem to have little respect for our fallen military hero's (all of them are hero's). It is not that there are 16 more hours in the day it is that that day WAS a holiday in memory of and to honor them. Your an idiot.

Whatever you self serving, anti-american, un-democratic, wage lowering, benefit thieving, ignoramous....

Eternal God,
Creator of years, of centuries,
Lord of whatever is beyond time,
Maker of all species and master of all history --
How shall we speak to you
from our smallness and inconsequence?
Except that you have called us to worship you
in spirit and in truth;
You have dignified us with loves and loyalties;
You have lifted us up with your lovingkindnesses.
Therefore we are bold to come before you without groveling
[though we sometimes feel that low]
and without fear
[though we are often anxious].
We sing with spirit and pray with courage
because you have dignified us;
You have redeemed us from the aimlessness
of things' going meaninglessly well.
God, lift the hearts of those
for whom this holiday is not just diversion,
but painful memory and continued deprivation.
Bless those whose dear ones have died
needlessly, wastefully [as it seems]
in accident or misadventure.
We remember with compassion those who have died
serving their countries
in the futility of combat.
There is none of us but must come to bereavement and separation,
when all the answers we are offered
fail the question death asks of each of us.
We believe that you will provide for us
as others have been provided with the fulfillment of
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

The "Memorial" in Memorial Day has been ignored by too many of us who are beneficiaries of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Often we do not observe the day as it should be, a day where we actively remember our ancestors, our family members, our loved ones, our neighbors, and our friends who have given the ultimate sacrifice:

by visiting cemeteries and placing flags or flowers on the graves of our fallen heroes.

by visiting memorials.

by flying the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon.

by flying the 'POW/MIA Flag' as well (Section 1082 of the 1998 Defense Authorization Act).

by participating in a "National Moment of Remembrance": at 3 p.m. to pause and think upon the true meaning of the day, and for Taps to be played.

by renewing a pledge to aid the widows, widowers, and orphans of our falled dead, and to aid the disabled veterans.

I recently had the honor of sharing a cup of coffee with a just returned vet from Afghanistan and Iraq. He was a Mx trooper from a helo unit.

The other night, I gave a lift to a Mx guy that had been notified of a loss within his family.

As Union Labor- I motion that all wages paid above straight time rates, plus all pro-rata Union Dues and all Wage Taxes, be donated to the Veterans' Affairs Office of the Community in which we live for that day only. No tax deductions for anyone.

Any Seconds?
