Mayday ....

Well, kind of shooting in the dark but is it ''your'' spreadsheet? Meaning, do you have administrative rights to it? If you did not make the original, someone might have put a lock on that cell thus causing you the grief. If you select the cell and hit delete, the info within it should get deleted.

Check Tools > Protection

Thanks Kyle, however, I just about gave up at 3:30 am! I ended up transferring the good data to another Excel file and re-entering the few lines that gave me a blasted time. I still have no idea what the problem was in the first place. Your right about it not being "my" spreadsheet but nothing was "locked" on the one I was using. Anyway, for now, all is settled, everyone is a happy camper!

My guess is that the cell had a "Date Format" applied to it... Thus attempting to convert your number to a date. Change the cell''s format to a number format
