The firing were from slash and burn managment retaliation crap.They had no union. :down:

If the firings occurred before a union was on the property and the fireies(sp) were union supporters THEY SHOULD GET ALL SENIORITY REINSTATED.Management union busting 101 fire the union supporters.Why didn’t this already occur with the first contract?

Why were they fired?

They were fired in 1995 because management decided it would be more cost effective to farm out heavy maintenance to outfits like Dalfort, Tramco, and the like. Why, we were supposed to save $35,000,000 over the course of five years, or something like that! Right. I think we blew through that money in around six months.

It was a real shame, too. Not only were the heavy maintenance lines gone (We were cranking out 737 C-checks in the allotted five days frequently), but our backshops took a major hit, too.

The M&R isn't that simple! When the Mech's that were fired in '95 were rehired years later, they were brought back in at the same pay scale that they left with plus a percentage raise and a new DOH. If you "simply" dovetail them in, they will revert to the new DOH pay scale and take a cut in pay. It's bad enough that they got fired because of the "meatheads" in charge at the time; now they stand a good chance of getting a pay cut. Nope, it isn't "RATHER SIMPLE" as you state.

The Date for Seniority Will be Based on the 1998-2003 IBT Contract so Yes it is Very EASY,Your Pay Will Never be Reduced,{No One Will Take a Pay CUT}. The TRANSITION Will Not Fix your Contract or Lack of Laguage YOU WANT,it will Bridge the WEST with the EAST.
THE PRIOBLEM's in your NEW CONTRACT will be decided when We GO TO A NEW CONTRACT.
You Can't Expect the IAM TO FIX YOUR IBT CONTRACT.They CAN NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE For a POOR IBT CONTRACT.

Yes I know where that leads: the the assumption that we will get a good contract. Believe that when I see it also.

To the best of my knowledge,no one will take a pay cut.What will or should happen is what has always been said on the east side is that all the west mech's on lower pay scales,GSE Plant Maint,other non aircraft types should be brought up in pay.
East only has one pay scale for mech's.West will come up,East is not going down.
