Long Day- Aug 10th- Merged Topics

Come on, its ONLY 815am now in Tempe. No one is even finished with their morning Starbucks there yet. The rest of the world cant be happening, can it?

There are mention of possible delays, but they say it is ATC delays. Nowhere else are delays mentioned OR the fact that customers need to check most carryon items with restricted articles.
Don't they have to take a system wide poll before making a decision on such things?

This just came from the WEST MEC:

MEC Briefing

According to TSA and company officials - at this time - all UNIFORMED crewmembers will be expedited through the security checkpoint and are EXEMPTED from the no-liquids rule that was imposed this morning.

THE TSA MAY CHANGE THIS CREWMEMBER EXEMPTION, BUT FOR NOW, YOU ARE ABLE TO CARRY CONTAINERS WITH LIQUIDS IN THEM THROUGH SECURITY.

If this changes, we will update the information.

MEC President Gary Richardson is in constant contact with company officials and will provide updates if they are needed.

I'm on an overnight right now and I need my hairspray, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. I'm on a short overnight and I don't have time to go shopping and replace them.

12:20pm on the east coast and the US website still had no advisory posted.

Perhaps if they knew how, they would, but they don't. Rumors on here state that they didn't Beta test, or that they did so, but poorly. Should they even attempt to fiddle with the website, it would probably freeze. As if that would be a bad thing...... <_<

Edited to add: I've now located the carry-on advisory on the website, could they have made it any smaller?

Yeah I bet you can count on one hand how many wanted to be the first to hop on that bird post 9/11. Thanks anyway...LOL

HP was the first airline to put an airplane in the sky following 9/11.

Sand Castle,eh? What a load of ----!
Look, from a Company who is asking Employees what tools they need to do their jobs (see the Hub or Compass), don't you think putting something on our Pi$$ Poor web site would have helped the Agents?

Rule #1: Work for free, be aware of the rules before they're announced, updated, changed, amended, and, absolutely always be happy about it. Remember your lanyard says: You make US Fly!

Rule #2: See Rule #1

Maybe they give the pax enough credit to assume they've seen or heard the news before they get to the airport. Slamming the company for not jumping to a knee-jerk reaction is pretty weak. Slam them for something substantial, but not this.

I think you'll find that most other airlines beat US to that 'knee-jerk' reaction. At least one - UA - has already announced that they'll waive change fees for passengers to/from the UK.

Very true. My next door neighbor is still waiting on his top secret clearance. It's been a year and a half. Anyone who has ever had contact with him has been interviewed.
I'm waiting for a secret clearance as well, they must have interviewed 20 people about me, but I should get the clearance pretty soon, I guess it depends on which government agency you go through.

USAirways.com now has something - a link to the advisory on the TSA site.
