LCC projected to lose $1 Billion for 2008...

Good thing this was an actual published article or else we would have to spank you naughty DeltaWatch...considering US' first quarter analysis comes out soon I'm wondering how much US is making with a 96.5% load factor so far into March w/ those blofares/gofares out there.

Too bad they are not getting the $35,000.00 ++ my company would send on US at my request. If they had not ticked off the high volume high yield business flier I bet projected loss would be a lot less.

American Airlines is projected to lose 1.8 billion; Meanwhile, US Airways is projected to lose 1 billion. Does US Airways have a better product then American Airlines, thus, leading to lower losses for US Airways?

Why is American Airlines losing more capital than US Airways? Does American have an Inferior product as opposed to US Airways?

JP Morgan, Citibank....Bear Stearns --- gee you think these guys are accurate? If oil continues to climb everyone is hosed. However, I strongly disagree with his assessment of AMR and LCC -- he's off by hundreds of millions -- give or take a few here and there.

I wonder what 1 billion is divided by the number of passengers US expects to fly this year? Anyone know the answer to that?

Sounds like a local reporter just tring to boost the price of his stock in DL so he can get out why the getting is good.

Maybe because AA is twice as big as US the loss will be twice as high. Lots of fixed cost in an operation like AA not much room to shrink your way to profitability

Hey Piney, :) ,

I'm not so sure AA will lose THAT much in 08'.

But a couple of things to "opine" here,

First, AA is sitting on a WAR CHE$T , close to $7B.(A good "rainy day fund", and YES it is raining on everyone) !

Second,

AMR is Very fortunate to have A/E to use to AA's advantage. One way to lower AA fixed costs, Is to get Ejets on the AA property.."Yesterday"
Notice how WELL the Ejets are working for NW/Compass.

Speaking of the Ejet, have you personally(as a Loooong time LCC customer, flown on one of them yet, and if so, how did you like it) ?
