Sounds like a good bet to me. It will depend on how much overlap/duplication has to be cut to satisfy the government against antitrust. With a rduction in flying and the talks of a merger , how far off can layoffs be ? There is alredy talk that a merger with UA would produce significant layoffs. Anyone hear anything ?
That doesn't sound very promising for me I was hoping maybe some buyouts would happen?Probably a 20% reduction across the board. Places like Charlotte would be gutted.

CLT? Where is the UAL southern hub? It seems to me that UAL is in no positon to be dictating anything. CAL got a real look at the books and ran like heck. I think Parker's ego will make him do this ill advised deal, but UAL is the the weaker partner. Let us hope Congress says enough is enough to these mergers and makes these lame CEOs actually run their airlines. If UAL is taken over by LCC, PHX, LAS and especially IAD-DCA-BWI would be more likely to suffer cuts and or consolidation. But I guess you just wanted to stir-the-pot. So...right back at you.
Well Charlotte airport is equipped for a big airline and someone else will profit if it gets broken up. Someone will want a large presence here. Hell, WN would probably wet themselves and drop RDU so fast at a shot of a few clt gates. Whatever, I don't even care anymore. The topic was being discussed on the Radio this morning. The expert they had said that if this went through two of the current hubs would be done away with. He felt that IAD for United would be scaled way back, and Charlotte would no longer live to be a hub. He felt that IAD would be given up as a concession to meet the regulators needs and Charlotte since it was not economically feasible in this market. He did not specifically mention LAS though we would assume that would get cut back as well. He specifically mentioned PHL as a hub that would see significant growth because of the current international operations and market size.

Yep someone filled that void of those great HUBS of the pass PIT/DAY/BWI/SAN/MEM/BNA/STL/MCI/etc. Didn’t they? Did I leave any out? CLT is a great hub hate to see it down sized great station great HUB When this stuff goes down no body is immune except senior managementWell Charlotte airport is equipped for a big airline and someone else will profit if it gets broken up.
