Thats what ive been told by several different people .

And u believe everything u hear freedom? If they are truly doin that I think the iam would have a grievance

The bag belt work can be outsourced, it was outsourced in CLT years ago, and became a disaster to get fixed.

The city or airport owns the belt, so they can outsource the work.

Scope took a big hit in the second chapter 11, the NC is working hard to recapture it.

And from my friends still at US, the shifting of jobs in maintenance has begun.

Is that what you call losing 50 spots in PIT and closing down SAN mx? A shifting of jobs?

SAN mtx is closing for USAir? That is troubling. We at AA have mtx in SAN. I wonder what plans the new AA has in store for smaller stations. Could it be that AA is closing mtx stations with both AA and USAir present? Are they looking to have one or the other at the same station?  If so we are in trouble.

What im now hearing are that there are only 9 open ground MX postions for them to transfer to here in PHX ...layoffs take effect in April and all of the workers will temporarily transfer to ground MX to help repaint all of the equipment to AA colors ....then after that is done .....

This is nothing new, in my 20 years, there has always been abolishments, bumping and bidding, open and closing of work, and work being shifted around.

No airline is immune to it, union or non-union, do you know at Delta, if you dont move for your job, your terminated with no recall rights?

From the CBA:

In any year where the vendor billed hours are more than  fifty (50%) percent of the total combined vendor billed hours and
the Company base maintenance paid hours, such deficit hours will be added to the current calendar year required company base maintenance paid hours.

The Company will not furlough to the street any Base  Mechanic who is active as of the effective date of this agreement  provided such employee exercises their seniority to the fullest extent. (Subject to force majeure provisions as described in Article 5.F and 20.D.2)

The Company shall maintain a minimum headcount of six hundred seventy-five (675) active Base Maintenance Lead  Mechanics, Mechanics, Inspectors, Lead Utility and Utility  employees combined. (Subject to force majeure provisions as  described in Article 5.F and 20.D.2.)
