Winning Democratic Senate control this november, very well could be MORE important than winning the White house in November (as far as the vacant SCOTUS slot is concerned)
 
Here's how.
 
Say the REPLUGS win the WH. They take the 'chair' on 1/20/17
If the " D's " win control of the Senate, they take control on 1/03/17 (with BO still in office for 17 more days)
 
The new Senate could then vote on changing senate rules.
 
All BO would have to do, is put up (for a majority vote only) one of the  people who already have 'passed muster with the current full senate.
 
So in summary, BO gets his 'man' confirmed before 1/20/17.  (Minus any filibuster by the REPLUGS)
