Justice Antonin Scalia found dead

Hearing Lynch is a possible......cool......Senate give her SCOTUS then recommend and approve Comey for AG.

They'd pass Comey in a heart beat.

Don't tell HC.

As sad as this event is, it has sealed the fate of the senate as a majority republican body with the next election.
They are in a no win situation.
I will be back here to say I was wrong, if I am.
Obama will nominate, the majority will block.
The people will punish the senators who decide to block.
You might want to rethink that.

Obama can nominate whoever he wants to.

The Judicial Committee can ignore it, and they will, it will NEVER make it to the Senate floor.

Ok, so who will the voters get to take out their anger on?
Well, on the Judicial Committee, there are exactly 3 Republicans that are up for election in 2016:

The Chairman, Grassley from Bright Red Indiana
Mike Lee who will win unopposed.
David Vitter, LA

Good luck.

All Senators will have to take a position on whether they want a vote on a nominee.

But the dems aren't allowed to vote their conscience. GOP can't get 100% on their side.

That doesn't really matter if it costs them the Senate.

And how would that cost them the Senate?

The nominee will never get out of Committee, which means it's a non issue for the rest of the Senate.
What non Committee Senators think about it means boo.

There's more than enough precedent for this nominee to die in Committee, and it will.

They are already playing the GOP lose the Senate card and this issue is the motive.

Voters are supposed to give the Senate back the dems over a blocked nomination...the same dems that rammed the ACA into their check books and a few other things. Granted GOP kind of flounders but they haven't done much except give Obama what the dems want, maybe a few more GOP will help them grow a set.

I think many haven't realized the deep extent of voter rage this time around and how it is going to effect all races.

Oh, please. The only people worked up about this are the lunatic fringe on both sides.

I think you both underestimate voter rage against this administration. Dems haven't demonstrated anything good for the country, rather opt for good for the party. GOP still stumble along not wanting to hurt anybodies feelings.....not even bright enough to do the peoples bidding.

I seriously don't think voter revenge will be exacted on the GOP's hold on Senate, most likely is solid increases.

Dem's have demonstrated in another full election cycle taking the country in the wrong direction.
Yep. Most people can't name three Supreme Court justices or tell you how they're named to the court. Those same people can tell you to the cent how much their health insurance went up and what coverage they lost.

And most people would be voting for who in November?
