Here is just some of what was done. Pretty childish really, but still defacing union property.

Wow, that is the office they would be using and they pull this crap. They really don't seem to have a clue that the Union officers and their office aren't the enemy. How is this creating solidarity Tim? You are dividing this membership and giving the advantage to management.

saywhat,
History has a way of repeating itself. The history of some of the candidates on this team is division among the members in order to achieve their personal goals and agenda. Believe me they have a history. I've been with US for 31 years and have seen this counter productive campaigning countless times from the same candidates. Your stated opinion of this division giving the advantage to management is right on. Management loves this type of division among the members of any union on the property. Wouldn't you if you were running the company? The question is... who is the real enemy?

Check this out:

United also announced that airport ground handling work at five airports — Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Buffalo, Detroit and Sacramento — currently performed by outside vendors, will now be done by United Airlines employees.

Did CO already gave their own rampers in these stations?
If so, its the same thing that DL did when they merged with NW.
Perhaps the combined operations of both airlines warranted their own people per their current CBA.

PJ--

Besides obviously being an IAM logo, what is that they defaced? A door to an office?

In these stations, UA had their own people (at least on the ramp), but CO may not have. UA's cba's says that any M/L flights get worked by M/L employees, which is likely driving this. Having a vendor working them where M/L employees also are is a violation of the UA contracts.

But the UA and CO ramp are still covered by separate CBAs, and not under one unified CBA.

The story says work done by VENDORS, CO employees are not vendors.
Correct, I'm sure the PMUA operation was done by a vendor, but maybe CO had their own people. The workforce isn't combined at this point. Getting rid of the vendor would in fact give the new combined UA their own work. I thought that may have been clear to you in my prior post.

I know, but maybe since some of these flights are being flown/worked with UA metal, it's still a violation. Just a thought. Could also be that with the combined volume in these stations, that it simply made economic sense to lose the vendors (and their cost center in those stations), and just have M/L employees handle things.

Those stations had UA employees doing UA flights. CO had vendors doing CO flights. It was a violation of the UA contract and since all mainline metal should be done by UA employees, they had to get rid of the vendors on the CO side. So those stations are now mainline.

Now to get back SFO and LAX and let mainline employees do both M/L and Express. And let M/L do the Express work in IAD. And also let M/L do the Colgan (or Q400) work at IAH. If it is in a hub or a major station, we should do it ALL. PERIOD.

BTW: Delaney and other officers of the IAM was at EWR yesterday at a meet and greet. Hopefully someone put a bug in their ear about getting this work now that Skywest lost it. And also protecting out Cargo.

FLL in fact used to have UA working UA. CO has vendors. At present there are no UA flights and only CO. Couple weeks ago a UA metal came in and they had to bring UA guys from MIA to work it.

T5towbar,
Delaney and other officers of the district have signed LOAs expediting the outsourcing of stations at US Airways. IMO... based on past history, they will fail to aggresively go after this work or protect cargo jobs.
