What a concept!!
Beautiful isn't it.  They did come to AMFA 11 looking for financial help to assist in the AA drive and it was overwhelmingly voted down.  Sorry for that guys.  Most are concerned with keeping every dollar to be used for our current nego's as well as some are scared of AA taking over the National...

Getting AA in with AMFA will only help SWA with the contract if you can get AA closer to SWA pay and benefits other wise I see  longer contract negotiations.
This would also strengthen (dues) AMFA for SWA's fight for a contract.

Normally a question mark is an indication that a response is requested.
Rhetorical question for the benefit of the membership Bob.

No answer on your part is requested or needed. If you wish to supply one then do so.

Yes and that is what keeps all AMTs in separate unions. I hope in my lifetime we can all be under one union, which one, I don't know. Hopefully this will happen and we will be able to change carriers and keep your seniority.

Bob,
Thanks for pointing out your opinion again on how we got here. Still doesn't change the fact of how things get better going forward. Need to stop wallowing in the past.
great advice overspun,  that is what the twu said after concessionary contracts in 1983,1989,1995,2003,and now 2012.  and another point to ponder the company tells us the same thing.

tWU motto......we will get them next time, i meant next time, wait wait  maybe this time!

failure after failure and no responsibility just keep collecting fat salaries and a    pension that the members do not have.

They absolutely meant that 100%, they just were not talking to the membership, they were talking to the company and the delivered.

TWU membership expecting a return on their investment...... how AArrogant.

ThirdSeatHero,
Believe what you want and so will I. Based on your position everything has been awesome at UA so great job AMFA. My congratulations to you.

AA has significantly reduced the aircraft it has in overhaul by adding more than 150 737-800s, 50 319/321s, and retiring 757s and MD80s at a record pace. AA will soon be well under 10 years average fleet age. We all know CFMs and V2500s require far less overhaul visits than JT8Ds and RB211s. I for one am not surprised that AA has reduced overhaul AMTs because of new aircraft. It isn't because of the contract. UA's was because of the contract.

Seham brags about being a major part of bringing in the B scale. One of the founding fathers of AMFA.
yes it should reduce you overhauls but at the same time it only takes a year, year and a half to get to the first visit on the airbus (IIRC). My understanding is its a 5 to 7 visit. So you should have airplanes back filling in at least some of the bays that M80s/757s are being parked from. Its shorter checks for sure, but it still means work.

"It hasn't been an easy day, but it's best for everybody involved." AMFA Trustee D Sutton
  • He said AMFA mailed union cards to as many Northwest and Delta mechanics as it had addresses for, but the response gave no reason to hold an election.
  • About 970 of Delta's 6,700 mechanics came from Northwest. Delta said it would bring the former Northwest workers up to Delta pay scales beginning in the next pay period.
Even non-union people know AMFA would make their lives worse.
Okay a few key notes from someone who knows what happens with the AMFA.
1) when the merger happened Delta had built up a good bit of good will with the MX group. I can pretty much promise TechOps is the best treated work group at Delta.
2) the AMFA was so small that they never really had a chance
3) most importantly Delta did the stupid spin you try to do here and everyone took the bait. TechOps will end up like NW and UA if you vote in a union! UNION DUES! etc. etc.
4) as other have said, NW got a huge boost in pay and Delta quickly started doing work NW sent out. Pretty quickly Delta started gearing up for c-checks in MSP. got a 145 cert as quick as they could. Started doing V2500 and 2037 work in the engine shop in MSP. 2 lines of t-tail c-checks. some back-shops re-opened to support check work. Became the base for HA work.

and now adding 330 c-checks to MSP starting next year.

AA isn't really comparable.

If any company offered you as much or more than any union why would you pay dues?

Most of Deltas people are happy I know lots of Family members have worked there.
