Is Phoenix becoming the new PIT?

someone else pointed out that HP brought the "worst" ontime, baggage, and customer complaint stats in the industry ..is that so??

Wasn't really talking about those stats....meant more of the overall passenger perception from service to appearance mainly. USAirways was no jewel either in those stats, but the merger was supposed to create a BETTER Airline. This airline needs to be cleaned/polished up literally!

Jim, do you have an explanation or opinion about the decrease? Does the A321 include Phoenix for the new quarter?

I'm not Jim (but I wish I could be like him), however, a quick glance at the Airbus trips in at least one East crew base reveals a boatload of East metal and crews traversing the PHX hub -- to and from many West cities -- quite often in November.

hate to say it, but think they are right. Similar to what happened to PIT. West teamed up with a superior network (the east coast etc) and while PHX/LAS is nice, maybe alot of PHX flights weren't making money. Now with the combined network they can leapfrog PHX to get people from the west to the east, essentially making the need for outstation - PHX flights not as much needed, so they weed out the weaker flights. I.E. someone wants to go LAX-PHL or LAX-TPA, previously they'd all be funneled through PHX then connect. Now they can put them on direct to PHL, or connect them through CLT into TPA.....or whatever..... just a thought... cutting out of the weak pairings, which might be alot on the west

This would take care of the people in LAX but what about SAC or SJC? Do they get non-stops to east hubs and then connect?

We always needed a western hub to connect through.

What about those who want to go SAN to SEA-where do they connect?

 I just LOVE how I get brought into this. I calls it as I sees it. If it's negative and I don't like it You'll ALL hear about it. I don't give a sh!t if anyone here likes it. Wackjobs. <_<
I was saying how your posts make me laugh. I like the way you call it as you see it.
You all have great points. I guess since the airline is bigger now, Phoenix is seeing a decrease in overall flying. Cut out the bad, and add the good. There hasn't been any new destinations so far. We shall see. :D

Wnat about SAC?

Well, when you think about it....what has AWA actually brought/contributed to this MERGER? The ONLY thing I can think of is a TOTAL Degredation of the former USAirways. PHX is more of a destination than a major hub.....with that said isn't it possible that the MERGER with AWA was just a catalyst to keep US East in the picture longer for something larger to come? I mean US East is ONLY making money because of all of the reorganization that the Airline went through during it frequent visits to BK.....AWA was nearing extinction but at the time of the Merger was in the black and was 3 times smaller than USAirways so a merger with a smaller regional Airline was more likely to be approved than with a larger one. US East is sitting on a gold mine on the East Coast and just needed to managed properly.....although we're still waiting for that part....I strongly believe the game plan was to keep the original USAirways in the picture longer. JMO

Some parts of this are true and America West was on the hunt for a merger partner and Parker stated this quite often in 2004 and 2005 and he surprised everyone when he said "don't be surprised if we are the "aquirer". I think most HP employees at that time just assumed we would get taken over by someone else and it's not how it came down, obviously. The only reason US Airways didn't go away was basically because financing was given to acquire the airline and not to pick up the pieces at a great price, with not much money left in the hands of HP. In answer to your first questions, America West contributed one h&*O of a lot to this merger. And come to think of it, so did US Airways. Wow, both had a piece of this!!

Heck - I'm still trying to figure out what the Strategic Air Command has to do with US.........are B-52's entering the fleet?.......is US getting old ICBM's for the China service?

Jim

LOL!!

Great, Jim. Bless thier hearts...they don't know what SAC is. Lord, I'm showing my age.

As a Heads Up.... SAC stands for Stratetic Air Command. It's what has kept us safe and sound from the commies for 40 years. Or better.

And if anyone has been paying attention lately....CNN....SAC has been doing thier job by heading off Russian bombers off Alaska as well as off the east coast of Northern America.
This has been going on for the last couple of weeks. Russia is trying to push our buttons.

Stay tuned.
