What is it with you guys? Why do you have such a problem with those that not only choose to stay at your beloved DL, but also want to make it a better place?
People calling for change at the Widget are they very definition of "getting off your a** and fighting to earn what you're worth."
More importantly, why are ad hominem attacks the best response you can ever come up with?
Sorry not enough time in my day to try to enlighten the uninformed dumb masses to capitalism and the American way of life.

Nobody has a problem per se, its more like not seeing the picture the other has painted. You say its good, I say its not. No problem!
I for one do not think Socialsm is a bad word. It depends on the type of socialsm. Capitalsm is not working out so well for me at the moment. It amazes me at how many people who do not really have an capital to speak, support a system which favors those at the top who have most of the capital. Now before everyone jumps on me and accuses me of being unpatriotic, stop. I am a loyal American who just happens to think that our system is broken and needs a little tweeking. I am not a communist, and I do believe in capitalism. I just think that everything needs to be rained in at times and this is one of those times.
cooper is right, it has gone too far, i do not think where we are now is what our founders had in mind. as much political bantering is prevalent here, hopefully everyone is astute enough to realize that where we are now is a result of several administrations of both party persuasions (BEARS or GETITGOING will hate this and have something outrageous or insulting to say referencing some one or thing who is not always deserving of the insult).
can't we all just get along? can't we find some middle ground? neither 08 candidate is ideal; nader, perot, ventura, barr, gingrich, even off the wall paul would probably get us farther out of the hole we've put ourselves in, only if they had a sensible advisory team.
check all the electronics in your house, check your driveway, see if you have helped to contribute to the global economy that seems to be our current enemy. you didn't have to in some cases. did no one see this coming? let's continue to send our dollars overseas and see what happens...not worth much now are they?
what happens now that third world economies are suffering and there is job burnout in india where we have sent a lot of our tech support and call centers? costs rise, is it beneficial to bring back the jobs we sent over? some companies have, albeit for other reasons (customer service issues driven by language barriers perhaps).
we helped our environment by sending our polluting plants elsewhere, but at another cost. the outsourcing has to stop and you can not blame all of it on the last administration, this started covertly years ago, perot called it, if you recall.
unions are not the ultimate answer, i wish i knew what was. i'm sure i'll hear the right answers soon.

Everyone is subject to being laid off.
This is not the time to decide whether or not to unionize. It is a waste of energy and my gut tells me that Delta AMT's know this.
Perhaps the airline industry grew too much and this is a market correction. That means there will be reductions no matter what.
The real question is: whether or not you want to stick around for the next correction which happens every 7 to 10 years and is almost always related to fuel. Do you want to be looking for a job in a new and foreign industry when you are 50?

This coming from the poster that hasn't bothered to learn the differences/differentiate between socialism & communism?
I find it interesting that the "uninformed dumb masses" (that's cute, by the way) are the ones using logic and fact to make their points while you continue to dismiss them out of hand with zero material of substance to back your position up.
Where I come from fighting for what you believe in is a huge part of the "American way of life."

One way you can help "Capitalism" help you is to fight and vote for the "Fair Tax" and get big brother out of your pocket !
Not only do you pay taxes but so do illeagal aliens, tax evaders, drug king-pins and anyone visiting the U.S. that buys goods in the U.S. !
More individual, less government !
Why should people who've busted their ### to get what they got ,lets call them " The Haves" , be penalized by a goverment supported by people who have never broken a sweat and want a free lunch " The Have-nots" !

If by "fair tax," you mean "flat tax," then we agree.
Where I came rom, the migrant workers worked harder and longer than anyone... and for a lot less $$$.

Quite right. Those busting their butts in the middle class are getting hammered relative to those in the top brackets, thus the rationale for a flat tax. You earn it, you pay on it, and everyone pays the same percentage.Period.

The Fair Tax is different than a flat tax. It is collected at the point of sale, so theoretically, it would be hard to evade.
