InFlight Cafe Goes Gourmet

What I have never understood is why people get so irate when we don't have their first choice or why they depend on US Airways for food on a five hour flight especially if they have the dietary restricts that they claim to have. I mean, we aren't a flying restaurant. Are they not told before they get on the plane that there is a limited supply of snacks for purchase or do they just no listen? Also, if you are diabetic or allergic to soy or something shouldn't you be responsible and make sure you have food that you can eat? It's just plain common sense to me. Those people (even if they are lying about being diabetic or allergic) are just making fools of themselves.

sky high states: So?....which is it? We sell like FOUR headsets on a transcon. LOL. Is it because of what we offer or because passengers are cheap?
only stating opinions

That would be both.
Let me be more specific. We sell 4 headsets on a transcon because many people are bringing their own DVD players or iPods, computers etc. (a pet peeve for me is no headphones on those players.so other passengers have to suffer through someone else's idea of good entertainment..). The value of the entertainment we offer is clearly not worth $5.00 for most people.
#2 On every flight at least 1 headset does not work correctly because of the quality of the headset or because of the wiring in the seat. This is excluding operator error.

I'd like to see the system upgraded.

I'd like to see the quality of the presentations upgraded (the trivia program reminds me of the "Highlights" magazine from the pediatrician's office).

And I truly wish there was some way to get everyone to turn off their players at 10,000 ft. I'm so very tired of having to stop and ask everyone with headphones in if it is turned off. Many times they are not, consequently they do not hear safety related announcements. Heaven forbid we'd have an emergency to communicate.

I personally think this is a positive change for once. Finally a step in the right direction. I really do hope that these positive changes continue and we can once again be at least semi-proud of the company we work for.......

The new inflight gourmet

I noticed that overall the prices increased. $0.50 more/better food that costs the customer $2.00 more. Frankly, brown bagging is the best thing to do on any domestic airline in tourist class.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it "gourmet". If anyone recalls when Inflight Café first started at Usairways they were awesome meals. We went through the Wolfgang Puck period with pretty good food. Remember the level off video? "Hiiiiiiiii I'm Wolfgang Puuuuuuck! ! You even got a mini bottle of water inside it. This is basically a return of the same quality it looks as before. We are just charging more for the meal. DEFINITELY a positive step over the current food we have had for what two years?

That video was scary. Out of nowhere he was roaring his head off on the monitors, it was a bit disturbing.

Building a Better Airline?? More Building a BullSh!t Airline. Saw the above on a billboard and it's nice to see one airline "Get's It", unfortunately it's NOT the one I use.

Bob, it isn't a crime if you voluntarilly hand over money. You keep handing LCC your wallet and keep complaining about it. Just don't hand them the money!!

BTW, I was gone 5 days and had a lovely flying experience on United and Ted. The best part was that they charged me 1/3 of what LCC wanted me to pay for their confirmed nonstop flight. I voted with my feet as are you.

Amen. And it feels good. PB, US East is not the only carrier who gives doubles. My lovely AA FA mixed me a double tonight and didn't even ask.mmmm and the cab they served was goooood. Went well with the ravioli on my 2 hour flight that was similar or better than what US used to serve on a transcon. I am trying to do a transcon this week on AA and from what the FA's tell me, the "service is beautiful". Did you know that a side salad can have tomotoes, artichokes and mushrooms???? And, salad dressing doesn't have to come in moomoo containers????

I am very happy they are upgrading the Inflight Cafe. However if I am working a full flight from JFK-PHX, or JFK-LAS, you better give me more than 5 salads, 4 sandwiches, and 10 snack boxes!! If I have another Russian or Air Italia codeshare pax go bullistic on me, when I run out at row 10?!! I will scream. Or the Nepal crowd! Talk about high maintenance.
I also believe they are going to sell the old snackbox on flights 2.5 hours. Some positive changes. :D

Nice!

This airline is loaded with people that hate their customers....from top to bottom.

Thanks for validating what I've already done....moved my $$$ over to CO....and the door didn't hit my a$$ on the way out....

Be interesting to see how anxious you and your management team are to send completely stupid messages like this when you are down to 7 loyal customers and a bunch of price whores who only fly US when they have the best price.

At least one airline "Works Hard and Flies Right," and it ain't U.
