Rumors have been rampant the past few days with regards to severance or in many cases rumors of lack of....... The IAM as usual is right on top of the situation(NOT!!!!!!) They have not been heard of since the vote

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rumor has substance. I got it straight from the horse's mouth today that 141 and the Company ARE discussing severance.

Now, what was put out in the info meetings AND in the individual station meetings was that, EXCEPT FOR WHAT THE CONCESSION SHEET ALTERED, the language in the 1999 Agreement held.

Under that agreement, if a station was shut down, downsized or expressed, EVEN if an agent had SYSTEM seniority to hold a job, if he chose furlough rather than relocation, he was due the severance package.

One possible scenario under the current talks is if an agent fails to excercise his seniority on the system, he will forfeit severance.

For those who say this cannot happen, you need to check the history.

Every union had a 1113 letter during the first BK. Concessions were agreed to. While still in BK, the company asked for, and got, additional concessions. The 1113 letters were worth s*&t.

It CAN happen again, and why shouldn't it? The Girl Scouts could put up a better fight.

Surely the attorneys for the "fighting machinists" would have noticed the change. NOT!!!!!!!

Girl scouts? I am afraid it looks even worse than that. The IAM might be approachig the dismal status of ALPA.

Cheers

To all the yes voters did you expect anything better than what you got?

You got what you asked for and it will continue to get worse

FWIW, a station I am familiar with, and the stations in the lodge it's affiliated with, voted NO.

For all the good it did.

Last year an organizing drive to rid FSA's of IAM, to bring in another union, the AGW, was conducted. If my memory serves me correctly most small stations chose to wait it OUT with the IAM as their bargaining agent. Being sold out is a result of their willingness to beleive the IAM instead of the TRUTH!!! At this time the question is, who is to BLAME?? For those who wanted to hold on to the IAM, I suggest look in the mirror!!!

Get real. Get rid of the IAM for what.... a group that has zero (0) experience? For a group that doesn't exist? If the push had been for the Steelworkers or Teamsters or a proven group it might would have made a difference. But get rid of the IAM and then try to form a union? Now did/does that make any sense? Let's see. IAM hasn't really done anything for us, so lets get rid of them and put in a group that has no legal people...no experience in writing contracts...no. No Thank-you. If I am wrong, please enlighten me.

First of all you need to educate yourself. Steelworkers and Teamsters are a part of the AFL-CIO. They can-not raid other unions that are afl-cio affiliated. Nobody in the AGW was suggesting to get rid of the IAM and form a union. The AGW has already been formed. According to the AGW website they are not proposing to represent FSA under the current contract. They are suggesting to get rid of the contract altogether to improve working conditions and wages. Because the contract is so bad no union can help the FSA's now, not even the AGW. Once the IAM and contract on the workers is removed, then an organizing drive can take place to provide FSA's a contract they deserve!!!

RedOne,

Don't you know the self-annoited interim director of the AGW wants you to decertify and become employees-at-will so the company can do anything it wants to you.

Don't you know there is no difference in being an employee at will and being represented by the IAM, except for paying dues!!!  In fact before being represented by the IAM senior employees had better pay, benefits, vac, ect. than now. The IAM represented new hires real well in this latest peice of *&^%, while punishing those with seniority!  The next thing FSA's are looking forward to is getting rid of the IAM!!!

There is none? Are you sure about that?

Better pay and benefits, did you figure in 9/11 and two bankruptcies?

And can the company just come in tomorrow and change whatever they want in your contract?

Get real.

This so called union makes us want to vomit!

Well you are the union, you voted it in not your AGCs, and I am a regular working stiff.
