I just worked with a former "EAST" F/A - Many topics

Wait a minute...Am I reading this right? A US east crew had their east aircraft subbed out to a west a/c... I don't see how this could be allowed. We are not trained on each others aircraft. Our video and most importantly emergency equipment is not even remotely in the same places. This happened when? I think thats a pretty BIG issue. That doesn't strike anyone as odd?

I highly doubt anyone would speak of security issues on a public forum.

Tell you what: after my next east and west flights, I'll take pictures of both procedures and post them with my commentary.

Don't kid yourself into believing it matters a damn, since all it really takes to figure it out is two flights.

I AGREEE... thats a BIG... SCOPE CONTRACT VIOLATION.... ON BOTH SIDES....... EAST/AND/WEST.....

HUm... So the EASt crew worked at WEST AC

OR WEST FA's worked a EAST AC?

Or our HP flight was done by EAST AC/and CREW
OR our US Flight was done by WEST AC/and CREW? ? ?

OK... that's a great point....

Yes, very odd. It happened in may. Don't know full details, but it had to do with a west a/c being hit by a tug at DCA. Many photos in ops. East and West crews deadheaded on east a/c out to PHX. East crew worked west a/c back to DCA. There was some issue with west pilots not being qualified on something...

Not to mention that would not even be allowed by the FAA. An curiously serious thing for scheduling or ops to do. The problems would be pretty big in the fine department I'm sure.

Today, I flew with a friend whose crew ended-up working a west a/c due to some irregularity. She said it was like working on a third-world carrier. There were very limited supplies. Everything was somehow smaller, or less. The liquor kit only holds 25 minis, and she said that there was no VODKA! At east, the liquor CART on narrow-body domestic holds 140 minis, 40 beers, and 40 wines in coach, and there is a second fully-stocked cart for F/C. The wine in F/C on this west metal was the small twist-top type. They received ten tiny bags of ice. Four bags equal to one east bag. No condiments. No milk. When she called catering back, she told him that this was not enough supplies for a PHX-DCA flight. She needed FULL catering. He told her to call dispatch. She said, "For what? You're standing right here, just give me more stuff!". The caterer said that it wasn't authorized. So they left with minimal supplies. I wonder if this is standard.

On the way out to PHX, her crew as well as a west crew deadheaded on east metal. The working east crew came around with the standard bottles of water and headsets for the deadheaders and the west crew refused. This was odd. Were they afraid someone would write them up for watching the movie, or what?

If you "friend" told you that stuff he/she is lying. We get 75 pounds of ice for every flight. Our mini drawer holds 70, there are 2 rows of 2 types of vodka, smirnoff and finlandia. I have NEVER run out of any liquor. We get two cartons of milk for first unless we are serving cereal then we get a carton for each first class seat plus two extra for coffee. We get lemons and limes for both coach and first on EVERY flight. However, we DO NOT take delays for crew meals or catering items! I can think of two instances where we did not have lemons or limes. Mistakes happen, get OVER it! And, guess what, when we are officially merged you to will have 70 minis, 24 beer and 12 wine. Don't like it, go work at another carrier!

We do not hand out free headsets to deadheading or nonrev paxs. Get used to it, it WILL be YOUR new policy as well! Water bottles, well, I have never heard of not giving those out, I always get them from the crew always give them to nonrevs (east or west) when I am working the flight.

I am frankly sick of the lies and attitude that are shout out by you and your nasty cohorts on the east side. You do not like the way things are going to change, then please do us all a favor and leave!!!!!! The old USairways is DEAD AND GONE. Get over it!

It should have struck me as strange when I heard it, but was too busy asking more about inflight and catering. I know that the plane was either west or everything inside was west,e.g.(carts, bins, trays, kits, and supplies). Don't know how that is possible. Will update when I get more info. Maybe the west crew whose plane was affected might know as well...

HaHaHa
Don't get your shorts all twisted. Been to LGA recently?

A thing we do for each other that WILL NOT change I'm sure. We even take care of crew members from other airlines. The watchfull eyes you all have over there as well will be in for a very rude awakening.... PLEASE, don't tell me that they are flight attendants that ride around the the privat eye spy? Doing your job correctly is one thing...flying around like "get smart" to just wait and BUST someone...... not a good thing.

It’s not Policy at east.

Just a nice thing to do for coworkers.

I agree it is nice, but honestly, do you know any FA that does not travel with a headset?? However, it is policy out west to NOT give out comp headsets to deadheading or nonreving crew.

We take care of our own here....Always have and ALWAYS WILL. We don't write up each other like I hear of from "YOUR" side either. Many on the west are afraid of the what these east people are like.... MAN, talk about company culture.... It sounds like the freaking military. we are VERY laid back folks here. Obviously too laid back I guess. LOL :D

Hate to tell you JMM, but we are not DEAD. Just folded American West into the heritage circle. Welcome to our world friend!

We shall see, yes, we shall see.

As for LGA, I will be there tomorrow. Cannot wait until the sand castle shuts that place down!!!! Unfortunately i am stuck flying east metal tonight, so I know to bring my own water and snacks and anything else I need because I know there is no such thing as smiles or service on the east side. :p I have flow US since they were Allegheny so I am aware of what to expect.

The DM chairmen who fly HP for the first time are thrilled to actually see a smiling face, get a predeparture beverage, and a decent amount of service. I have heard this OVER, and OVER again!

It's so flipped. I thought it would be the other way around. I assumed wrongly that HP would be more like PSA. Does anyone have a sense of humor over there? Most of these postings are said in jest. Can not take everything literally!
