Household Income

The question was 'How high can the average Republican candidate count?'

He was being charitable.

You say potatoe, I say tomatoe.

Bring back Dan Quayle.

He would be a genius at the debates now.

So life was good under the dreaded El Chimpo?

Under GWB ?

Dear God NO !

Some of the things that happened on GWB + RC's watch;
1. 9/11
2. Phoney war in Iraq under the disguise of "cooked books" (Thousands DEAD...US and Iraq civilians)
3. Banks allowed to do ANYTHING via zero regulations
4. millions of people lost thier savings and in a lot of cases thier HOMES
5. BANKS, Goldman Sacks etc. given Billions in bailout $$$

I doubt ANY administration past, present or future will EVER "top" GWB/RC's "accomplishments" !!

Dan Quayle?? Hmmm Could he be worse?

Stupid is as stupid does!
So again you try turning another thread into an "I hate Obama" thread. Look at the title again and see if you can come up with something. I realize that you have trouble getting past your hatred, but please try.

I think it is awesome all groups are doing better. I wonder how many people that were in the bottom 20% in 1979 have moved to higher groups.

It's unfortunate that there are so many people in this country who, despite having numerical ages that indicate adulthood, demonstrate emotional ages that indicate a prolonged childhood.

To address the criticism that the range of the study was 1979 to 2007: The CBO said that it chose start/end years that preceeded recessions. 1979 was a relative boom year despite rising oil/gas prices and 2007 was similarly a boom year despite rising oil/gas prices. The study was intended to show long-term trends in income, so having similar economic conditions at both ends of the study seems reasonable to me.

Of course the years 2008-11 would probably show sharp declines in income, probably across more than one of the five quintiles. Certainly wouldn't need a study to draw such easy conclusions as "the most recent recession has caused declines in income."

And lets not forget the "Fannie & Freddy Fiasco", that helped to put us here !

Wait.............that wasn't GB ! He tried to stop "Blubberin' Barney Frank" and posse !

Excert :

2007

August: President Bush emphatically calls on Congress to pass a reform package for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, saying "first things first when it comes to those two institutions. Congress needs to get them reformed, get them streamlined, get them focused, and then I will consider other options." (President George W. Bush, Press Conference, the White House, 8/9/07)

August: Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Chairman Christopher Dodd ignores the President's warnings and calls on him to "immediately reconsider his ill-advised" position. (Eric Dash, "Fannie Mae's Offer To Help Ease Credit Squeeze Is Rejected, As Critics Complain Of Opportunism," The New York Times, 8/11/07)

December: President Bush again warns Congress of the need to pass legislation reforming GSEs, saying "These institutions provide liquidity in the mortgage market that benefits millions of homeowners, and it is vital they operate safely and operate soundly. So I've called on Congress to pass legislation that strengthens independent regulation of the GSEs – and ensures they focus on their important housing mission. The GSE reform bill passed by the House earlier this year is a good start. But the Senate has not acted. And the United States Senate needs to pass this legislation soon." (President George W. Bush, Discusses Housing, the White House, 12/6/07)

2008

September: Democrats in Congress forget their previous objections to GSE reforms, as Senator Dodd questions "why weren't we doing more, why did we wait almost a year before there were any significant steps taken to try to deal with this problem? … I have a lot of questions about where was the administration over the last eight years." (Dawn Kopecki, "Fannie Mae, Freddie 'House Of Cards' Prompts Takeover," Bloomberg, 9/9/08)

Thanks for the moment of sanity. I wonder how many actually read the report. Most of this thread is simply people trying to outdo each other with the Bush is bad, Obama is worse.

It is a very comprehensive report with some great data to learn from.

Of course there is.

There is also more to life than waiting for the next catastrophe.

Not in my world.......

It is data. Not complete data but something. I would say 'better than nothing' but IMHO no data is better than incomplete data. Unless your trying to feed incomplete data as one picture and hope everyone swallows it.
Been there, done that, got a polo shirt...
